Hello, Namaste. I am Dr. Anamika Hui, Audiologist and Speech Language Pathologist. Today I will tell you 5 mistakes that people usually do while buying hearing aids. So, if you are willing to buy hearing aids, this video is for you.
Mistake No. 1: Blindly Trusting Online Reviews
During online purchase, people usually follow online reviews. For your information, these online reviews are purchased. Most of the companies, provide wrong reviews or purchased reviews in their websites. To be realistic, there can be negative as well as positive reviews. So, beware of such reviews and avoid buying hearing aids online. Instead, you can visit directly to audiologist’s clinic and purchase with proper hearing aid trial.
Mistake No. 2: Best Hearing Aid In The Market Provides You With Best Hearing
There is a myth that buying the best hearing aid will give the best hearing also. But unfortunately, it doesn’t happen. It is very difficult to choose best hearing aid suitable for you just like that. The best hearing aid for me doesn’t mean it that it is best for you also. A good hearing aid can give it’s best when programming is done according to the audiogram of the person along with hearing aid trial.
Mistake No. 3: Buying Hearing Aids From Anywhere
Hearing aids must be bought from a recognized and qualified audiologist so that you get a good after-sale service.
Mistake No. 4: Waterproof Hearing Aid
There is no waterproof hearing aid as such. There can be water resistant or sweat resistant hearing aids. You can check IP rating of hearing aids before buying it. You must watch my video on Waterproof Hearing Aids - IP Rating. The link is given below.

Mistake No. 5: Thinking That Smaller Is The Best
People with hearing loss wish to buy small hearing aid like CIC, ITC so that it hides in the ear and is not visible from outside. But it is to be understood that these small hearing aids doesn’t go with higher degrees of hearing loss. The selection of hearing aids depends on the degree of hearing loss, age and need of the person. If you have severe to profound hearing loss, you have to take Behind The Ear Hearing Aids because the smaller hearing aids doesn’t give so much gain.
Hence, you need to check these points before buying hearing aids.

Very informative and nice video you have provided in KZbin. My father's DBHL is 71 in right and left ear. Severe sensorineural hearing loss. 71 years old. Could you please tell me me which type hearing aid should we use. Which brand is reliable . I think it is high frequency hearing loss. Between BTE and Ric which will provide Clear voice. He generally visit market,shops regularly though he is retired. He communicate with many people in a day . Please answer. It will be very helpful. As i know that some extra noice came in BTE and clear noice came at ric. Is this true? Do ric have more chanels than BTE? Which is good for clear hearing?

I am an electronic technician since 1995, according to my knowledge Best hearing aid mean best microphone and speaker can provide real sound quality and good amplifier circuits giving long battery backup we can expect these features only from branded products an audiologist can check how many percentage of hearing lost to the patient and which machine can use. or they cannot do any kind of programming in this unit except volume control adjustment One of my cousin visited hospital for hearing problem after checking they fixed a hearing aid total cost Rs 25000 when I search that product in Amazon only 2900 rupees Sorry for if any mistakes happened in my explanation

she can hear with hearing aids but you have to consult with audiologists. One more option is cochlear implant. In Uttarakhand shri mahant indiresh hospital is providing this facility . Is will cost around 6-7 lakhs but in this hospital it is free up to 5 years children .

You have to visit AYJNISHD, Bonhooghly.. its inside NIOH Campus, bonhooghly. They will do your testing and tell you whether you can go for ADIP scheme hearing aid.
