In Saphira’s case: if two specialists are needing to bring in even more specialists does that mean the case might be unique enough to be written up in an academic study?
@laurelgirard8475 Жыл бұрын
Probably. I was in a Medical journal (human) because I had osteopenia made worse by high doses of prednisone. My rheumatologist was going to write it up. I had to sign for him to use my info(anonymously- no name or identifying info).
@dragonmama08 Жыл бұрын
Most likely. I know my husband's spinal surgery made it to the medical journals. He had to write paperwork stating he agreed to it. He had a team of 14 people during the surgery

I would imagine so, given that it’s so rare to see a case like her’s, let alone one with such unique anatomy, it seems like a perfect case to be written up

I had that kind of experience with my teeth. I went in one time probably 40 years ago or 30 years ago to a dentist because my gums were so swollen and painful but I was pregnant at the time and so he said to wait till after I had the baby to see if my gums calmed down and they really didn't so they had to do a a procedure where they went in and doing a quarter of my teeth at a time and went way up under the gums and scraped tarter out from under there and after a couple of days the difference in that one quarter of my mouth was so dramatic that they asked if they could take pictures to use as a case study and so they took pictures and I went back in for another quarter of my mouth to be done it had to be done in four sessions cuz it took so long to do just a quarter but they took pictures along the way and said that they were going to use it as a case study. So yeah I got to be in some dental magazine, unfortunately!

Oh my goodness, my dog had bladder stones! My mother and I always thought she was just chubby (for a schnauzer) but she was always really firm around her fully and would be uncomfortable when we picked her up. One night, she started acting very weird, whining and being restless in her bed. Since she ate cat turds, I just assumed she ate cat litter as well and that the cat litter had inflated her gut or something (I was 14). I really wanted my mother to take her to the Emergency vet, but she said that she could make it til morning. Time skip to me waking up in the morning and my mother sending me a text saying that she took Chanel and that she was in critical condition. Apparently she had an abnormal number of bladder stones and that she was bleeding internally. Because we didn’t live in a big town, the only surgeon there said that we had a 25% chance she would make it, and that the best option was to euthanize. But we did the surgery, the ended up puncturing a large stone in the urethra causing more bleeding and lost her once, but in the end, she made it! 6 years now and I thank that surgeon every time is visit the vet.
@janiceevans8553 Жыл бұрын
Our schnauzer had to have surgery for bladder stones also. It's very common in this breed. However there is special dog food that will prevent stones in dogs bladders. It's expensive but worth it.

Dr Danni's little happy dance will forever bring me joy! And sweet little Beretta, the bad press around Pit Bulls is so unfair, they are such wonderful, loving family dogs, the breed has suffered terribly due to a certain kind of person abusing and weaponising them in order to look "hard", as always the animal suffers, and never the perpetrators. I hope one day the UK Govt will reform the hideous Dangerous Dogs Act, and we may be able to enjoy this wonderful dogs on our shores once again.

Saffy's case was certainly complex but glad they managed to figure out her incontinence problem. Pumpkin, tuna, and olive oil given mixed in his food might help Chip to allow his hairballs to come out with the poop. There are treats, food and even drops . My cat gets sick almost daily. Her hairballs are so bad that she frequently vomits her food trying to get the fur all out. We used the treats and lots of tuna to ease their way out the other end.
