Switching to the second controller port in the Psycho Mantis fight isn't some weird, quirky alternative way of fighting him, that's the weird, quirky intended way to fight him. If you try fighting him with the first controller port, he reads your button inputs and will punish you for trying to shoot him. The alternate way of beating him is by shooting the masks off of his statues, as they all have his face, and seeing his own face freaks him out, thus breaking his concentration and interfering with his psychic powers.

In the Final Fantasy series, undead enemies often take damage from spells that usually restore health, such as Cure. The logical extreme to this is that there are some undead bosses, in multiple games, who can be killed in a single turn, using a Phoenix Down. For those uninitiated with the series, the Phoenix Down is an item that restores an ally after they are knocked out. Not usually something one thinks of using on an enemy, but they do massive damage to undead.

@@DreadnoughtDT Almost every mainline game has that niche boss. Technically, the "Cure = Undead Damage" started with FF2, but only Cure dealt damage, and the few Undead "Boss" enemies had extremely high magic defence, so it wasn't a viable option. I haven't played 3, but 4 has Scarmiglione, 5 has bosses such as Tyrannosaur and Archaeodemon, as well as the early Siren, who is weak to Cure but is immune to Phoenix Down, and 6 is notorious for the Phantom Train, vulnerable to both Phoenix Downs AND suplexes. FF7 Gives you an X-potion right before Gi Nattak as a cheese if you know the trick. Gerogero and Abadon are both FF8 Undead bosses that can be annoying with their use of Curse, if you play risky and depend on Limit Breaks, while 9 only has the Soulcage, personally one of the hardest bosses I've fought, but I keep a low level until Amarant joins due to Magic Stone scaling. Evrae, and the Fallen Monk, are the only true Undead in 10 due to starting the battle under a permenant Zombie status, and Phoenix Downs are nukes on anything with Zombie. Yunalesca even uses this tactic against the party. As for 12, there are a few Undead creatures that must be fought to progress through story dungeons: Ahriman, Hydro, and Daedalus, at Sochen, Pharos and Giruvegan, repsectively. Curiously, the weak Raise has a better chance at KO'ing Undead than Arise or Renew, at 50, 25 and 0%, respectively. Also for grinders, the Dustia trick is notorious. The trend has died off in the mainline series since 13 onward, but side franchises like Tactics have kept it going. The original had Raise deal 50% of an Undead's max HP, while my memories of TA2 had Raise spells deal up to 90% of an Undead's health in one go, but the chance was slim. Undead could also turn into Gravestones and revive in 3 rounds, so you had to cast Raise spells or use Exorcism abilities to remove their gravestones, which is a tactic I want to see more in JRPGs, TBH.

It IS worth noting that the Flu Season exploit for the Reaper doesn't work in Persona 5 Royal. It only works in Vanilla. My personal favorite way to beat a boss as not intended, is actually a boss in FF14. Granted, most people will just go in and unsync it now so that they don't have to deal with it period. But back in the day, Binding Coils of Bahamut-Turn 2 was a stupid boss. Rot was evil. But... there was a way around it. Waiting out the enrage so it'd just aoe everyone up to dead instead of doing any of his other mechanics. So people would bring in 3 healers, and heal through all the damage while the boss just melted while he didn't do anything else. XD

I play a ton of Fallout 4 and can say charisma is a solid option, and while it won't always solve everything, there are many scenarios and perks that can make it solve a lot. Like several stand off encounters like Wolfgang vs Trudy at the Drumlin Diner on the road between Concord and Lexington. With enough charisma and successful speech checks you can have him back down, give you money, and then leave. Also, it's not just LoZ that likes alternate ways to take on bosses. Nintendo as a whole loves it. A lot are pointing to Metroid Dread but my first thought was Super Metroid, the third major boss Draygon. Like most Metroid bosses it's pretty standard to enter the bossroom, have a small intro sequence, and then jump over their attacks and hit them with more missiles than the air force has to offer. Alternatively with enough energy you can let your self get grabbed and use the grappling beam to latch on to one of the open sparking electrical units on the wall, and fry him like fish on a Friday. Also: Yoshi's Island has a plant boss that if you manage to snipe before getting too far into the room you can instantly kill before Kamek can come and cast enlarge on it.

I think that Fallout 2 had a solid balance of allowing you to use stealth and speech for the final boss. With good enough stealth, you can just turn the gun turrets that assist Frank Horrigan against him. With good enough speech, you can convince a squad of power armor-clad Enclave soldiers to help you take down Horrigan. You still have to fight him, though, this certainly helps turn the tables a bit in your favor.

Some of my favourites include: Ringing out bosses using Topple or Knockout in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. It won't be particularly lucrative because the item drops will go down with them, but it makes up for it by being really funny. Especially if it's a unique monster with wings or a late story boss. The Ultima Weapon combo in Bravely Default 2. At first, this game's version of the Ultima Weapon skill is very underwhelming and can easily be replaced with the much more practical Divine Speed. Then you give your character a skill to exceed the damage cap and another to change abilities that charge MP so they cost HP instead. Then you start effortlessly hitting the new 99999 damage cap om top of having easier ways to restore HP. Use this on the superboss and you win in no time. Shooting arrows at Volvagia mid-flight. At first, I thought that Link fighting him with the Fairy Bow in the OoT manga was a creative liberty. But no, those times when Volvagia flies into the air after being hurt aren't his own version of Invincibility frames. If you have good aim, you can repeatedly shoot him in the face until he goes back into a hole. This makes the fight much shorter.

I wouldn't say that talking The Master down into surrendering was exactly a secret since that was the best way to beat him, Fallout 3 even copied it by letting you talk down President Eden the exact same way.

Anyone else think that RabbidLuigi looks alarmingly similar to the prosecution in the Alex Jones case recently? I can't be the only one who sees this.

Have you done a video about bosses you don't have to fight? Which is to say instead of fighting the boss you do something else? The antagonist from Fallout 1 is a little too obvious, so I suggest disqualifying him so there can be five entries of other bosses.
