Ryan Hendricks Maybe...maybe... Well I can't afford to collect games so I've been selling chunks of my "retro" games on eBay (well mostly PS3). Life/times are tough so even if it's a few bucks, I'd rather sell my older games and help pay bills.

Wii, PSP, XBox, Nintendo DS, Game Boy (loose) and GBA (loose), ... You can't really say a system's great to collect for right now just because the shovelware's cheap -- You can say that for any system. For instance, PS1 is not great to collect for right now if you want some games that are worth a damn. I'm not saying there's not cheap-o gems because there are (that's true for almost every system), but that certainly doesn't mean it's a PS1 buyer's market right now.

I have been collecting for the GBA for years, but so far I have only gotten maybe 1 game in its box since I started, none of the games I found complete were affordable at all. In the states conventions and shipping rates are much more accesible than other parts of the world.

The one console that should be on that list is the PSP. The games are so cheap right now and even some of the really good ones you can get for $10 or less CIB. Hell even most of the RPGs go for $20 or less (there are some that stray from that like Hexyz Force).

Got a Ps2 with 11 games, 1 Controller, DVD kit with remote and IR adapter, 2 memory cards and the network adapter for HDD usage for 40€ which is a good deal in my country since Ps2's go for more than 50€ just for the system in good condition.

Nintendo DS is a nice system to start collecting for IMO. It may be a little harder to find CIB games, but there are gems you can find under $10 a pop.

Definitely a great time to start collecting for the original DS. Prices have already started to climb for a few of them. I only just got all of the Castlevania and Advance Wars games for the DS.

Nice to see you back Pete! I know you stream now and ive stopped by a couple times, but I like you more as a content creator rather than a streamer. Also, great topic for the video. I only recently got a little more hardcore into game collecting, id say a couple months to a year ago(thanks to my discovery of LGR Thrifts). Its crazy, I had a random xbox original with no cords or anything that I think someone gave my dad for free or something and now I got both controller types, both component and composite hookups and the number of games is over 20! So yea, im pretty much right with you on the consoles to collect for.

Yeah man, totally fun paying $50-$80 for games that can be found for a fifth of the price on later generation systems that are the exact same and play at higher resolutions and higher frame rates. I would collect for the XboX or PS2 over the gamecube anyday, at least those games are unique. R.I.P Nintendo.

Great picks, Pete. I've personally been digging into the original XBOX and PS1 libraries quite a bit. On the XBOX, asides from a handful of games rising in price (OutRun 2006, for instance), most titles are $10 or less.

Pete is back!!! This was a really cool topic. I definitely have to keep a tight budget these days as I'm married and have an apartment. I buy maybe 1 or two new games a month and then a handful of below 20 dollars games. It's still fun to be a collector even though some of the more rare games are out of my reach for now.

Great video, Pete! Good to have you back. I live in Ireland and I started collecting about 1 year ago and it's been so much fun collecting for all of last gen's system. Wii, PS3 and DS in particular are very, very easy to collect for here. I bought a 360 and started to collect for that too, very cheap. PSP isn't as easily available, but it's out there too. It's kinda difficult to collect for systems previous to last gen, though. Unless it's for PS2. I bought like 20 games for it recently for 40 to 50 euro. Great stuff. Easily available and very cheap. GameCube is there but is quite expensive, and original Xbox is rare, but cheap enough. GBA though? Good luck with that. And then going for generations older than that? Outside of a rare seller at a car boot sale, pretty much out of luck unless you're looking online. So like PS1? fuggedaboutit! Still though, great time to be a collector in general. Now's really the time too, because nowadays games don't come with manuals, they require hard drive installs....they're becoming more and more digital so...enjoy it while you can!

PS3 was amazing. I bought it back in 2008 JUST for MGS4. Only game I owned on the system for a long time. Collected dust. I own 50+ games on the PS3 now and love every single one of them. I realize now how great the system was, even after all the fun I had on the 360 last gen.

I'm currently collecting Master System, Dreamcast and some 3DO. All are climbing in price, but they're still affordable. It's so much fun! But really, I'm not actively looking for just those Systems, I pick up what I want to play. PS3 and 4 are also constantly on my list to pick up games for.

I actually got House of the Dead Overkill - Extended cut just today complete with the 3D glasses and all. I'm buying for all the PlayStations at the moment but PS2, PS3 and PSP games are really affordable right now. The Move controllers are kind of in demand because of PSVR but they can be found for reasonable prices if you look hard enough.

I don't really see much of a collector's market for the PS3, 360, and later systems. Because a lot of games rely on online features, patches, and updates that require the consoles' servers which will eventually shut down.

Great video Pete. I've gotten such great deals on 1 and 2 dollar xbox/360/ps2 games at PRGE the last couple years. Enslaved and Castlevania are definitely 2 great "under the radar" games for the 360/ps3.
