It is viewed negatively because in western traditions that are rooted in Christian ideals of etiquette. They state that when a man starts a relationship with a woman who is financially dependent on the man, it is the same as grating her as a prostitute. So to a westerner, the idea of a girl wanting any and all relationships she has to be rooted in financial gain is equivalent to calling herself a whore. In our society the idea of arranged marrages, and clan like alliances between powerful/wealthy families family have died off. But in China, where gender roles and familial expectation are clearly defined, it makes sense that this is the norm.

exercise isn't just about weight--that's a bad thought process many people (especially women) have. it's about a healthy heart, healthy respiration and circulation, healthy skin, and mental health too. exercise is proven to elevate your mood, help you sleep better, and generally have a more positive outlook on life. i used to eat badly and never exercise, i got 30 lbs. overweight, and i was just a depressed, lazy mess. once i started doing cardio boxing and changing my diet i lost those 30 lbs. and started feeling 20 years younger. i'm a lot more active, my digestion is amazing (no more heartburn or need for pills), my skin is clear, i sleep like a log, and i have plenty of energy. now i love getting outside and being active, and life seems to be full of possibilities instead of full of dead ends. humans are meant to be active. this sedentary sitting around in front of the computer or TV shit is totally unnatural. it's the reason for all the depression, chronic pain, obesity, anger, anxiety, and fuck knows how many more chronic conditions people struggle with today. balance is great--i love youtube and video games too, but i balance it out with daily exercise, lots of water, and doing something outside every day of the week. speech over. take from it what you will.

It's true about Chinese girls being materialistic but I think if you are a principled man and stick to your guns you can just tell them where the front door is when they start that shit and that they're easily replaceable (they are). Relationships or marriage are are a kind of arrangement based on what two people bring to the table. NEVER build a relationship on spoiling a girl- you'll regret it later on. Can I just clarify that this video mostly apply to Chinese girls from China, HK, Taiwan. My ethnicity is Chinese but I'm not from China. Here's my question... At what point do we stop worrying about how to impress Chinese girls and allow them to worry about what Western men like? I mean... who's trying to impress whom? If I found myself in China and single (which I am) I would be very tempted to not chase any Chinese girls or even try to ask them out. I think I would rather see which Chinese girls came dropping hints or asking me out - showing attention to me instead of the other way around. Does that make sense? I would feel the same way about those girls as I do girls here in the U.S. and that is that, when we guys try to get our acts together in such a way that we play to what the girls like, we give up a lot of power in our relationships and get the dynamic off on the wrong foot. This "knight in shining armor" syndrome has caused men to become way too servile to their women. By showing this same deference to Chinese girls, I think that we expose them to a new arrangement whereas Chinese men may have not been doing it this way. I just see a number of potential pitfalls. The last thing that I would ever want is to find myself in a relationship with any woman that constantly breaks my balls the way my American bitch ex-wife did for too long. Ok, that's what I think anyway.

Bad generalization. Vivi came from the kind of culture in Canton that was materialistic (no criticism). There was this certain group of people there that focus a lot on meals and wealth. They may treat you generously but they expect the other way round, too. Girls else where or from different cultures in China may buy you a meal and do not care too much for that. I had a 1-year relationship with a Han Chinese from Xinjiang. And if I remember correctly the first meal between us was paid by her, happily. She was a big spender on herself and on me. I also spent for her, sometimes lavishly. She focused on the feeling that I took care of her instead of taking financial advantage out of me. We were just two spoiled college students who just did not care for wealth management (we should). But the result was the opposite as you would expect on my end. Because I was happy with her, I did not really find the need to spend that much on fancy stuffs (most costs on my end were simple hotels and restaurants). She did overspent on her clothes though and her mum was furious. I also had a relationship with a girl from somewhat the Northeast, she did not mind spend on me and I likewise. Girls from the northwest and northeast seem to care less on financial advantages over their partners, and are more financially independent. It is more of a feeling being taken care of thing. So for westerners, the northern girls are pretty perfect: they have the kind of extrovert open-mindedness that the west is used too. On the other hand, they don’t seek to rip you off as often as western metropolitan girls. Northern girls I guess have more of a small-town vibe (despite there are big cities in the north, too) because of the open landscape and scarce population. You may say the real China is small town China, too.

I met a Chinese woman on a dating site. We emailed each other for a couple of weeks and then she disappeared. Five years later , she emails me out of the blue. I did not even remember her. Then she reminded me. We video Skyped for a year. I went to China to live with her for 2 months. Actually , she still lived with her ex-husband - separate bedrooms. So she rented us an apt. Her city was dirty, polluted and too many cars. I was at home all day when she went to work. No books in English, no stereo and crappy internet connection. She would not let me cook. If I met an English speaking friend , I could not invite back to our apt. She was stingy with money. Her bike was crappy old and a death trap. She borrowed another crappy bike from her brother for me to ride. She would not introduce me to her family. I could not go to a work related social function with her. I could not meet any of her work mates. She was controlling. If I went outside for ten minutes, she would follow me. She insisted on holding my hand before crossing the street so I would not get hit by a car. She took me along with her 2 other friends to the south of China. Train ride was 45 hours one way. First hotel would not let me stay because of no Chinese I.D. Second hotel would not let me stay either. Thought I was going to have to sleep in the streets. Her girlfriend told her to send me home back on train alone because travel in small towns was going to be difficult for me. I am home alone and bored. Got drunk, fell in the street and woke up in ambulance. Doctor who stitched my head was her friend, called her and she came back. She was pissed that she lost her bed on the train for changing schedule at last minute. I was so bored in her town that the only thing to do was buy liquor and get drunk. I've been talking to Chinese women on another dating site and it seems that most are looking for a rich American to take care of them. Most on the site are dressed like princesses. Seems Chinese women are trying to look and dress more like western women. Seems like Chinese women are more materialistic than American women. Most Chinese I have met could care less about the pollution or what we humans are doing to the environment. NOT SURE I EVER WANT TO HOOK UP WITH A CHINESE WOMAN AGAIN.

I have to add my 2 cents. according to authentic Chinese aesthetics to female's skin, smooth shiny white 凝脂 > smooth shiny light tan > dull white 死白~= smooth shiny deep tan > dull tan 暗黄 > whatever color skin with lots of pigmentation 肤色不均，多色斑 ~= deep dark. too many freckles maybe worse than pure black. unsmooth, hairy, odor and pigmentation(such as freckle, chloasma, mole) are really disliked by Chinese men. any one of these features could lead you to the bottom. To skin, the color does matter, but the fine and smooth(水色)in many cases matters even more. The standard to male is not as tight as female. money speaks louder.

The point that Chinese girls want to be spoiled and treated like princesses is so true. I was in a relationship with one and that really used to make my blood boil. She would even ask me with a straight face if I'm going to spoil her and get so hurt when I don't give a completely positive answer. She'd feel so privileged just because she's a girl. She even told me how she broke up with a decent boyfriend of one year just because he refused to tell her a bed time story. To her that was the reason to break up because it meant he doesn't want to spoil her. Unlike white skin which has either a neutral or pink undertone, the problem with tanning yellow skin is that being darker will make us look very sallow and old-looking. That is the real reason why Chinese girls avoid getting tanned at any cost ; the whole classist thing about being a dark farmer girl is just a relatively less important consideration.

I spent 3 and a half years in China and dated 6 women in that time, these are true for 90% of the mainland girls you meet. HK and Macau (mostly HK) are more westernized in their values and are less "materialistic" from the mainlanders.

From the healthcare standpoint, starving will actually make you binge eat later and gain all that weight back. It's best to cut the carbohydrate (rice, noodles, bread, potatoes, etc.) as excessive intake will result in carbs turning into fat in the body. To lose weight effectively without exercising although it's better to have a combination of both, eat protein (white lean meat like chicken) and fiber (vegetables and fruits) because they actually make a person feel fuller and more satisfied than eating carbs (no Danish cookies as in this video). Chicken or tuna salad is my favorite whenever I want to lose weight. Besides, extensive and prolonged starvation will end up forcing your body to convert proteins (such as muscles) to energy (ATP) resulting in people losing muscle mass, which is not good. So to lose weight effectively, exercise to burn the fat and eat a healthy protein and fiber rich diet. I personally have been gaining great results from such combination as well as drinking oolong tea (pour out the first cup which is 95% caffeine to prevent caffeine overdose) after the births of my babies. This is the scientific way to effectively lose weight. =)

My experience in Asia taught me that women do not want to get dark because they will look like they are a low class worker who has to work every day in the sun (such as a farmer). In the West women want a tan so that they look like they are in shape. healthy. and they don't look like a low class factory worker who has no time to tan.

My wife is Japanese and she also hates the sun. She wears those full arm gloves when ever she drives her car and always wears long sleeves and hats if she is going to be outside (even if the temp is in the 90's). I guess most Eastern Asian girls are alot alike. LOL.
