Hi. I’m applying to my PMHNP and was wondering how I can use my experience in school during my trauma rotation to relate to mental health on my application. Thank you :)

Hii, congrats on applying. What type of experience do you have? And When you mention trauma rotation, what does your trauma rotation entail? I’m just trying to clarify a few things before I give you a better answer

Hi there, Thanking for providing us with very useful information about Psych NP. I’m considering doing the program but I’d like to know more about NP work life. Right now I work for Home Health and my schedule is quite flexible. If I want to take one month off to travel, I can do it easily. I worked in the hospital before where you only can take off 2 weeks a year and I felt stuck at the job. So my question is, is there a job as a Psych NP where you can take off for a month at least during the year here and there if you want to? I don’t want to work at a job where you get paid annually and you have to commit the whole year (year after year) to the job with only 2 weeks vacation a year.

Hi and great question, this is totally doable but it depends on the job you take. A few buddies of mine do that but they work their butts off about 9 months a year. They all do work in private practice tho for someone but get paid fee for service not hourly or salary or own their own practice x This also can be possible by being a locum tenens (like a travel rn but np) .

What does being a psych nurse have to do with riding a motorcycle or kids jumping on a trampoline??? Absolutely nothing. It's just things you've seen as being a nurse.
