Are you allowed to discuss on here what a good starting salary would be for a Psych NP

Thank you for sharing this video. You are 100% correct my fellow PMHNP! I have experienced all of this type of treatment for many years so I decided to go locum for the last 2 years. But guess what? Same old sh:(. Now I am going to listen to your info on starting my own telepsychiatry. Hey if you get to the psychopharmacology conference in Las Vegas at the Paris next month let’s get together and talk! Would love to meet you even though I could be your grandmother it is refreshing to hear so much intelligence verbalized! Take care. Phyllis 😮

I have a psych degree as well as a BSN. Seems better to just get my clinical psychologist masters and practice as a psychotherapist.

I’m considering a career switch from being a licensed mental health therapist to a PMHNP. It’s basically starting school all over again so it’s a lot to consider, but your videos are helping me to better understand what that change might look like in the future! I’m curious if you know any PMHNP’s who used to be licensed therapists?

I would add - do not expect nursing in real life to be like "nurses on TV"

This video was incredibly helpful in giving me perspective as I pursue a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry (NP Psych) or a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). I have a strong passion for psych and know of the significant shortage in that field. However, I am also interested in the medical aspects, particularly cardiology. I need to decide, but this video has helped me sort through my thoughts. Thank you so much! I have been watching your videos for years, even before I became a registered nurse (RN). I'm about to earn my BSN in three weeks and am looking for a program to continue my studies. You are indeed a gem! 💜👏🙏

Critical overview!! You are one of the first to tackle this ever important issue- as a 30- year PMHNP I am very concerned about the motivation behind newer grads and wanting to start private practices after graduating? All PMHNP programs need to be showing your video before graduation as I'm concerned so many grads are pressured to think this is what you do! Very misguided and if people are going into this profession with $ in forefront, you will be disappointed...you don't get something for nothing after all!

Take college credit classes in high school so your prereqs are done then get your associates degree in 2 years. While working and getting experience take an online asn to bsn in a year. You can then get your msn in 2 years and you are a nurse practitioner in 5 years with 3 years of experience.

I quit my mental health job when I saw what was happening to patients every day. Being sent to the hospital over small stuff 😢
@pimpedoutnpnation2 ай бұрын
Dont any of you forget that when you take these jobs, you are putting the patient’s life, your license, and your freedom at risk. DEMAND training in your contracts and a ramp up period. You tell THEM how much time to schedule you. We cannot let these doctors and corporate giants exploit us anymore. None of us deserve to go sit in prison forever because a judge will remind us that we had the license and it was OUR job to be safe. Its so sad this is how things are for us 😢

Thank you for sharing. I have turned down about seven unsafe job offers as a new PMHNP. I have not worked for anyone else yet. Found my own MD, doing safe care on my own with Headway, won’t be going to work for anyone else because of these five reasons!!! Finally, I dont feel like I am the problem anymore. You see all the things I was seeing so I know Im not just imagining things or being negative. I feel so much better after watching this. THANK YOU!!!

Still worth it to me 🎉 I have been PsychNP since 2021: opened my PP in 2022 and it's burned me out. I'm moving on with a position in ICE Dentention Center with Immigration and Customs.
@Michael300winmag2 ай бұрын
Why did it burnt you out? Are you seeing more than 10 patients a day? Or you are doing Medicaid?
@TheDiamondladyone11 күн бұрын
Was wondering that too because I’m getting burned out in outpatient with a company…thinking about options as well

Thank you for making this video. I just graduated and passed the exam in August, but have felt in a slump and scared of starting my nursing career. Almost like I'm burned out from school, so I'm overthinking everything. Thanks for the reminder that my first job doesn’t have to be my forever job.

@Michael300winmag2 ай бұрын
Yes. Mental health disorders are increasing, according to CDC. In 2030, there may be more mental health disorders than people going to seek medical care.

I am in the BSN. Should be done by December 2026. If applying to a PMHNP, that would take easily 2 to 3 more years. In 2030... how do you see job opportunities for the new recently grads BC-PMHNP?
