Thanks for the content, I landed 3 interviews already, which were not successful, and I have 3 more in the upcoming days. I hope your tips will help me get through this! This is a tiring process honestly, but hey nobody said it was going to be easy. Keep up the good content in your channel!

You make a really good point about experience being more important than studies and the level of studies especially when it comes to support work and volunteering. I've met a few people that want to get into clinical psychology the seem fixed on the ideas of doing extra masters and a PhD to get 'Qualified' thinking that's what's needed. At the same time the idea of doing care work, befriending, or telephone support lines seems to escape them. Clinical and counselling is just that. Face to face, in clinical environments with patients/clients /service users. Also if you are gonna spend 3 years doing a PhD to then do a clinical doctorate (unless you genuinely want to change) then you are a gluteon for punishment.

Is being older a disadvantage? I went back to study psychology and I'm now 34. I'm wondering whether my age is a barrier to entry

I'm so scared. I have an AP interview next week. In an outpatient cancer service and working under a counselling psychologist. I don't know much about counselling psychology in terms of cancer services but will do my research on this sector as you suggested. Any other tips welcome

I also wanted to ask does volunteering as an adult support worker at circles south east count? It's a voluntary association that tackles with volunteers helping sexual assaulters reintegrate themselves into society, using techniques of empathy, understanding them, makig them free of guilt . I don't know if that's a valid appropriate experience?

Thank you so much for this info. Some people tell you, you shouldn’t tell them you are aspiring for something else as they will think you want to just use that opportunity to climb further. By the way, are you Scottish?
