Since the band itself was formed in London, then they would be an English band. To me it has to do where they formed. The Jimi Hendrix Experience is an English band that happens to have an American leader. The US rejected him and the English accepted him.

Even if they never really had that much commercial success, they're one of the most influential American rock bands of all time. without them we probably wouldn't have punk or alt rock, in fact a lot of the music we take for granted now wouldn't exist without them. The music itself is great too, it was really cutting edge at the time and still is, and honestly just great in general. I'd suggest you check out their song Venus In Furs, it's really awesome.

Beastie Boys should've made the list. Large catalogue, ground breaking, innovative and at times bigger in UK/Europe than they were here. Soundgarden should've been higher IMO & surprised Aerosmith wasn't higher, as well

Beastie Boys probably weren't included because it's debatable whether they qualify as a band or as a rap group, and considering that they crossed genre lines quite frequently, I don't fault the creator for not including them for that reason.
