This video proves great songs come from great minds pondering great ideas. Supertramp has always been the No. 1 existential guidepost in my life coming from the world of Rock HANDS DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Logical Song was my Zen meditation tool before I even truly caught on to the need to meditate on God and the meaning of life. If only people understood how significant the philosophy of the life of Rock is. Rock is NOT something from outside God's universe but definitely His own substance unarguably. It's been helping me in the same way as an adult for decades. I know exactly what you mean by "crazy" and it's really tough to be torn between those two worlds inside of yourself. One is only held together by yourself and a few singers or writers, etc, who echo the things that you're seeing and feeling on the deepest level. The other is the false, performing you that's supported by an entire society of others behaving and acting in a likewise manner (mostly unconsciously). You doubt your own consciousness (intuition) because it gets such minimal support. But the unconscious performing you has the entire society backing it up because that's the way we're supposed to be in order for this clockwork horror to keep ticking along, ensuring that the one-eyed man remains king!

Those that never spent time and energy researching real history, have never connected to reality. Ruling class controlled schools, TV, movies, etc, will never connect you with the truth. Truth seeking is a individual thing that no one will support you in doing. Only mocking, putdowns by people that are very afraid of what they may learn talking to you.

This song reminds me of my childhood and when I was older and understand the lyrics, I realised it was about my life. My mother screaming I had to be realistic and not a dreamer, that I should learn at school, and not just staring out of the window in my schoolclass. That I had to stop dreaming and fantasising, but be rational and for Gods sake study for a job to earn a living. My parents were desperate that I never find a job. So I did my best, with ups and lots of downs, learnt to be a nurse, earnt money, got realistic and wasnt feeling happy at all. Long story short, I couldn’t work anymore as a nurse because of a disease, and finally find my old self again. Now I dance, I sing, I sell my art and feel that that is who I am.

Placed with a French family there, along with two "french brothers" I had a 21 year old drop dead gorgeous "sister" who played Breakfast in America over and over for the seeming few minutes she spent at home. Upon returning to the States first thing I did was buy that album and play it over and over... for many years.

Late 1980s, I had to take an ethics course as part of engineering studies. I enjoyed the course. The final time we had class was kind of laid back. During this last class, the teacher played "The Logical Song" during the final class, that stuck in my memory. The ethics class was a good compliment to our studies, it meant something. I wish more people had the opportunity to take, and learn from, an ethics course. Somehow that thread winds back to the innocence of youth.

Just as its mother the Blues is it is MEDICINAL. But unfortunately it is misused........ just as most good things are.

Wat een muzikant. De manier waarop hij zijn akkoorden "uittokkelt" op zijn 12 string is voor mij zó herkenbaar maar ook uniek. The Meaning, Even in the Quitest Moments, Along came Mary. Ik vind het nog altijd magisch en kan zijn gelijke tot nu toe niet vinden.

A big shout of thanks to Roger's father for leaving him his guitar. I wonder if he had any inkling of his son's great musical gifts. I wonder if he took pride in his son's success I wonder if they ever got to play guitar together.

Songs like this need no explanation to those who are living it, or have done. That personal connection between songwriter and listener is one of the most fascinating and beautiful things about music. I hope everyone listening to this song finds out who they are before they die.

I have LOVED this song since it first came out. As seniors in high school we had to put down a quote. I used this song. 43 years latter ...... it speaks to me just as much .... IF NOT more than it did when i was 17 years old. I love his music.

The school he talks about is “ Stowe School “ in Buckinghamshire where he was a Border , my sons boarded there many years later , it’s a beautiful school in the heart of the country side . He played a concert there a few years ago , very sadly I could not make it , now I’m desperate too see him in concert while he’s still singing live , one of my very favourite artists who writes the most beautiful music 🎵

Roger, I can't say it strongly enough, THANK YOU! You're such an amazing person with extreme talent. You're so obviously soul & spirit-focused, alive in your heart, and soul-driven enough to bring all of us along for the ride. We can feel your soul with each new song, each new verse. You unburden my soul so many times with a simple piece of vinal and your pure searching heart. Peace to you my friend. It's been an absolute honor to have you in my life. I'll still be singing and tapping my toes to these songs even in my casket. They say on the other side there's no space between us. Till we meet then my friend, meet on the other side.👽
