Thanks Clay...great timing on this . I was out with my fly-rod over the weekend and thought to myself, this is kinda like some of the golf swing practice tips I got from Ballard...just with a longer lag time. Your vids and descriptions really helped me see that lag was more a timing thing than a movement or swing thing...waiting for it and keeping a couple things consistent. Your Pirate Ship drill was probably the one that really lit up the idea that the golf swing is a set of connected pendulums that require a tiny bit of delay for them to all work together. Your biomechanical visuals and descriptions have really helped me transition from being in my head with 37 discrete swing thoughts to being in my body and feeling the flow of connected movements (and having a sense of what was happening and why slower was faster) I wish I had found you 40 years ago before 1st golf lesson wrecked my swing. :) Mush appreciation!

Tried this drill right after work today and it was light bulb went off for me! Just like you said. I’ve been struggling with heel strikes lately, within 5 minutes of doing this drill I was hitting the ball super square and man the ball was making that cracking sound off the face! Your man Clay, thanks for all the awesome lessons

Love all your lessons Clay! Could you make a video about grip pressure. How tightly are you holding the club? Do you maintain the same grip pressure throughout the entire swing? Thanks!

This helps to not rush as much,at least for me. The sooner the hinge happens, the sooner you want to unhinge, or fire to early. Its a subconscious thing so its hard to control. This is a great tip/drill.

Hi clay can this really work right thru the bag ..pitch to driver as your easy shot you did with a 7 iron is what I call a good shot ... thanks 👍👍 This is great only tried with pw and the ease of the swing is mega thanks again 👍

I firmly believe that this is the biggest secret of the pros. It's such a small nuanced motion that isn't even really paid attention too. This motion also gives your lower body a head start to get out of the way of your hands and club coming through. This motion can be two fold as well allowing you the opportunity to shallow the club as you start down. Love it Clay!!! Although I swing my 7 iron at the PGA Tour average as far as swing speed and I don't carry it 199 yards. So either well done or your launch monitor it is a tad off

This guy must be new here. Lol. Don't ever throw shade at Clay again just because you don't optimize your ball flight with your janky equipment.

@@israelmena7752 I just call it the way I see it. If dude hits it that good consistently either he can't make a putt or the numbers are a bit skewed. Hitting it like that would allow you to make quite a bit more money than what KZbin is paying. Definitely not new and most certainly don't have cheap equipment.

Clay I love this technique.. I just had 2 hours in a golf simulator and I was using this technique and was getting crazy metres with my short irons. I hit a 215 metres with my 7 iron but my best was 240 metres with my driver .. any tips this simple for the driver??? And also my distances was very inconsistent some times 125-130 upto 160-175 with 8 iron and tips on how to get consistent distances??

Love your videos. One thing I never watch from any content creator is how your shoulder should point down. Seems like my shoulder is pointing too high. I think I need to point my shoulder down more on my back swing. But what are my reference points to how to angle my shoulder on my BS and DS? Thank you Sir...

Great video. Just curious, which 7iron are you hitting? I noticed your spin number was low 4000 on that 199 yd shot!

The quest for maximum lag destroyed the great golf swing of someone I knew. He started watching his swing on video and convinced himself he needed to increase the lag angle into impact. He began holding that angle with increasingly stiff wrists almost past impact! Analysts on TV constantly say "look how he holds the angle or delays the release". Bad verbage! This video shows how lag is a result of correct motion and relaxed wrists.

199 yard 7 iron? C'mon man! Get someone else to be an example that does not have that skill to really show what slow and smooth is really like.
