For being so young, his "old soul" has managed to turn his pain into incredibly powerful and heart touching poetry and songs. His music is pure. the song was made about his uncle, the “she” in the song when he said “she made peace with pain” hes talking about his cousin. and he also said “mom is crying, so is yours” hes talking about his uncles sister and mum.

This kid is wise beyond his years. He probably grew up way to fast and it comes through in his lyrics and delivery. He's beginning to be my favorite artist in country music. I LOVE his talent.

His father passed from addiction and this one is his uncle who also has passed away from addiction as well. He was 13 when he wrote father in a Bible.

All great poetry leaves enough mystery or empty spaces around the details such that it activates and solicits participation from your imagination. It's also pithy, expressing a ton of information and emotion with very few words. Song lyrics are, or at least, need to be the same. I'm really amazed by how artistically mature Jonas' lyrics writing skills are. I'm also impressed about and happy for Jonas' mature way of dealing with the emotional pains he has suffered. It seems clear that he has gone down the path of healing and understanding, rather than an all too easy but destructive path of drugs or alcohol, or some other hollow promise of self-medication. I trust that God will be able to use his music as a beacon in a dark and stormy night for many who need that first ray of hope... and I suspect Jonas will be nothing but happy about that.
