as a truck mechanic for 20 yrs, retired now, my IR 3/4" air impact was my go to tool for removing U bolts and semi lug nuts...I would LOVE to see this tool in REAL world conditions that I experienced EVERY day in my world...frozen U bolts that I would work back and forth to finally get them to go and lug nuts that over-exuberant tire techs put on with 1 inch impact guns......I literally have spent a year of my life taking off u bolt nuts and lugs and would like to see this gun in the real rusty, overzealous lug tighteners out there....i have graduated to battery operated impacts in my retired life and pretty much retired my air compressor except in extreme conditions (rarely) or have to air up the snow tires etc but it would have been interesting to try these big boys in my world

My DCF961 does more than I could ever ask it to, including remove semi-truck lug nuts. I’m not sold on IR cordless longevity yet. Back in 1989 or 1990, I bought an IR cordless drill. Wasn’t cheap, but hey, it was IR. Within a couple years it was discontinued and there was no support. Not even for batteries (Amazon wasn’t around back then). I’ll stick with black and yellow for now.

I don’t think you would have the same experience if you purchased the D 5140 half-inch drill that is a part of the IQ V 20 line of cordless tools. I have one myself and with the 5.0 amp power battery pack that thing has not let me down yet. I’ve owned it for three years and I’ve run down hundreds of fasteners without fail. I’ve even let my dad borrow it a time or two and he has no complaints. Ingersoll ran was one of the first companies to get into the cordless game, but they did not put the farm on it. Pneumatic tools was the bread and butter back in those days. I am heavily invested in the IQ V 20 and the IQ V 12 line of Ingersoll ran cordless tools and I haven’t regretted making the investment. Yes they’re expensive but these tools are really good and I’ve not had to call in for warranty service on a single one of them. The red boys can’t say the same.

I love it when TTC does an Ingersoll ran cordless tool. IR is my brand and I am heavily invested in both the 12 V and the 20 V line. They don’t have the biggest battery packs. They don’t have the highest specs but those tools get the job done the first time every time. They are Built beautifully, reliable as hell, and I have not had to call in for warranty service for a single one of my tools. Personally, I would like to see a six amp power battery pack, but I think that’s as high as I would wanna go. I’ve seen that 12 amp hour forge at the Home Depot and I would not want to carry that thing hanging off the end of my half inch impact.

I think it's incorrect to use the 1300lbft claim for the scoring. My reasoning is this, if I walk up to the box in the store, or read the website to buy it, what is the number posted there? If it's eleventy million lbft, then that's what I expect it to do. If the real info is hidden in a catalog I can't order from, or in the manual available AFTER I bought the tool, then the score card needs AT LEAST an asterisk. I think the score card should have the 2000lbft number and an asterisk. You and I might disagree on this one, but I still think you're doing good work. Keep it up.
