Hey guys, in this video I will show you how to build this workbench / assembly table / outfeed table with a torsion box top. The torsion top will provide a rigid and flat surface for all your assembly needs. It also has a ton of storage, with 7 drawers and three cabinets, there's room for just about everything!

I love the continuous grain down the front of all those drawers. With a project this big, it really adds beauty to this functional work-piece! I would love to make something like this when I get a bigger shop area! Great work Alex!

I agree with the many other comments about the build, design, and editing a joy to watch and learn. just subbed. One question as I am binge watching assembly table videos for building my own. What was your rationale for the abbreviated size? Is it simply all you can squeeze into your current layout? Or have you some logic behind not using the typical 4x8 full sheet. This is America right? Bigger is always better; don’t agree necessarily so when is see smaller tables I’m interested to understand why.
@BevelishCreations
@BevelishCreations 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I don’t really have the space for a full 4’x8’ table. And I actually built it for my CNC machine, but I didn’t want to “market” it that way since the build can work as an assembly table as well

Nice shop and tools! Is this going to be an additional assembly table or is it replacing the one with all the dog holes in it? Also, if you only had the space for one assembly table, would you want it to have dog holes all over the surface? I have a workbench for hand tool work, but I am looking to build a mobile table that can be used as outfeed and assembly. I also have a cnc, so machining the grid of dog holes is no problem.
@BevelishCreations
@BevelishCreations 4 жыл бұрын
I actually use this for my CNC. But I called it a workbench because even if people didn’t have a CNC they’d want to watch the video and build this for their shop to use as an assembly table or workbench. I actually prefer my workbench with all the dog holes. I use the dog holes all the time to hold my pieces down

Great video. I am considering buying your plans. What are the rough dimensions and is there any reason one couldn't add dogs or track to the top? Does it interfere with the torsion box?
@BevelishCreations
@BevelishCreations 5 жыл бұрын
It’s roughly 40”x52”. If you want to add bench dogs you’ll probably want less inner grids. And since all sides are closed off it’ll be a pain if you dropped something inside. You can add T tracks on top though

@BevelishCreations
@BevelishCreations 5 жыл бұрын
Torsion box tops are very rigid and dead flat. So when you do assemblies things will line up the way they should. It’s one way to reduce the likelihood of wobble in furniture pieces after assembly. Of course if the ground where the furniture will be placed isn’t flat there will still be wobble, but you won’t add wobble on top of wobble :D

about 5:14 into the video you are ripping a piece of wood and you have a set of guides attached to your fence - who makes that jig?

Epic work bench. We just finished installing windows and doors on the house, and can’t wait to start on the shop hopefully spring or summer of next year. I could probably use at least 2 of these in it. Check out our window install video over on the page if you get a chance!!

@@BevelishCreations Thanks. I bought your Drill press stand a couple days ago and didn't realize the materials that went into it. But its definitely very rigid!. I like this table, but need more of an outfeed table for the saw... Might just skip the top and convert it to outfeed instead. Thanks!

Hey sorry I gave the wrong information to your question. I was also answering someone’s question about the media stand I just posted a video of. This assembly table actually uses 3 sheets of 3/4” ply, half sheet of 1/2” ply, one sheet of 1/4” ply, and half sheet of 1/2” MDF

Beautiful work, Alex. What is the final size of the top? Did I miss that?
@BevelishCreations

Thanks! No I didn’t mention it because the size can be customized to whatever size fits the person making it. I didn’t think it’s an important detail. But mine is around 42”x50”

One would almost think you're sponsored by Kreg. First video I've seen of yours. Only April Wilkerson would out do you in the use of pocket screw joinery in a given project. The finished project is almost too good looking to use even though it is shop furniture.

Every time I watch a cabinet or draws being constructed and every time they bust out a dado or make multiple passes with a table saw. I am sitting here asking why not just use a router table? I thought I was the odd one and there was something wrong with process, no longer!

PLEASE keep your fingers clear of the brad nailer. Too Close and careless. I would hate to see you get hurt. Awesome build though. Curious why you didn't continued to use pocket holes for drawers???

I’m just used to making drawers this way and I didn’t have the shorter screws for 1/2” ply.
