Love watching you. I’m a 71 year old daughter of a fisherman like you. My dad was from DC and fished Chesapeake bay for”Rock fish” which I guess I’d a salt water striped bass. Looks identical. Have you heard that? He used to bring home monsters that my mom baked while and it was delish. She could cook any fish.

Striped bass, yum!! First fish I ever caught with my Gpa when I was 5 years old was a bass at Lake Mead…cried the whole time I was reeling it in but I did it. Gpa filleted it and cooked it up just like you did! (OMGosh! just realized that’s almost 70 yrs ago😮) I sure do love your channel. 👏👏👏👍👍👏👏👏

Nice job on the Striper, Brant! I caught a 21 pounder under the bridge at Oregon Inlet in North Carolina about 10 years ago. One of the best eating fish I've had. I thought I caught a beast, until later that night I read the world record was over 70 lbs.

Hi Brant, in a area where there is both fresh and salt water fishes, how do you know what license to get it? I do know it depends on the type of body of water. But for someone who doesn't live along the coast line to know. Or just be on the safe side and get both license?
@williambenner7012 ай бұрын
I have lived in similar situation with both saltwater and fresh, so I would get both.
@lowcountryrob1702 ай бұрын
I get both since I fish both, but in South Carolina, we have the salt/freshwater dividing line. Above that imaginary line is fresh water, and below it is salt water. Funny story, you can’t keep salt water fish caught above it but you can keep fresh water fish caught below it as long as they’re legal size.

Striped Bass are one of the most interesting tasting fish that can be caught in saltwater, brackish, and even freshwater. Unlike the sunfishes (Largemouth, Bream, etc.), they have flavor. Just enough oiliness and structure to the meat to satisfy a seafood lover.
@sonnysteele26162 ай бұрын
So I made a comment on the Jack fish or chain pickerel you got on a few episodes ago, the way I clean is to scale them, filet, cut rib cage out, then gash them from top of filet to bottom to the skin probably 1/4” apart, that will slice tru all the bones then deep fry, you do a red horse sucker the same way, you should do a gigging video on red horse suckers in late Feb or March

Now that's not really a Ninja Mask, It's a neck gator! they do have Ninja style balaclava gators & you can twist the neck gator if it's long enough to cover your face & neck. These were very popular during the pandemic & a lot of people used them to cover masking mandates. As someone who's lost his 2cm patch for precancerous mole on my forearm I can safely say you want to be really carefull with your face! Imagine loosing a 2cm (or more if they didn't catch it in time) patch off your face

This brackish stuff is what I mostly fished in south Louisiana, lots of these estuaries that have the bass but also carry the salt species as the nurseries. I've hit unbelievable spec trout in some of these places. As fast as you can pull them out type of fishing but I only kept 10-12. That's more than enough for me. Nice trip, peace
