He bloody knew what he was doing. He’s a menace sometimes. Peter definitely gets a depraved pleasure in being super scathing to and humiliating some entrepreneurs that come on. His attitude can be appalling. These 2 men I don’t think for a moment intended to come in and deliberately insult the Dragon’s intelligence. They definitely didn’t understand how to evaluate. Peter must sense that and Touker would know that was a fake bed! They see someone not business savvy and like to pillars them! I hope they succeed with their extremely good invention! Flat pack is a nightmare product!

@@janeclarkson8471 You would think if you are going onto Dragon's Den then at least watch a few episodes to get an idea of what kinds of questions they ask and if they will test the products. No one is just going to give you £150,000 without asking some questions. Why would they bring in a fake bed, this is them demonstrating their product. If anything most of the Dragons did cut them some slack because they understand inventors don't always understand business. Trouble is this is about business, so if you are an inventor that lacks business savvy then hire a business manager or at least do some research into how to value your business. Everyone thinks their business idea will make them a millionaire but the reality is lots of businesses fold without making any profit. They wasted an opportunity here by not doing enough research and being greedy.

It's not unique though... splitting the short sides of a rectangle in half and putting hinges on them is not novel. You can get foldable milk crates all the way up to furniture that uses this idea. If you ask "how do you fold a rectangle frame keeping everything one piece" this is the more basic and obvious answer you'd come up with... Good for them to trying to build a brand around it, but the idea is old and not patentable.

The reason why decent Flat Pack furniture takes time to assemble is in order to make it solid. shortcuts and easy disassembly just means that these units will not be very robust. Furthermore, much of the 'technology' they are using is already in common use, including the pop-in door hinges, foldable timber joints, etc. There is nothing new of any real value here and Landlords will hate the flimsy furniture, as Tenant furniture needs to be much more robust than domestic furniture generally !

Flat pack furniture is by nature cheap & shortlived. It could be argued its that way intentionally to keep customers returning & easy money for landlord replacement when it inevitably breaks again
