Went to East Brisbane State School from Camp Hill State School to do cooking classes in Grade 8 I think. Still remember making macaroni cheese and rissoles with tomato and cheese on top!!! Also taught there as a supply teacher a few times. Once even took my daughter with me as had no baby sitter and they were desperate for a teacher. I remember taking her to the tuckshop for a cream bun at lunch time and how low the buildings are under there. Also used to walk through the grounds on the way to footy at the Gabba when we went to every Lions home game in the '90's. So glad they are keeping the school now.

Interesting...Yeah; I didn't film it, but chatted to the ladies in the tuck shop, and joked with them "what can I buy for 10 cents?"...Also said "thank you tuck shop ladies!" - Then lowered myself to child height, and said it again! 😄I'm VERY glad it's staying (subject to whatever future government stupid ideas could happen of course!) - it IS heritage listed though, so even worst case scenario, it SHOULD mostly stay.

I loved this. I got emotional. I was only there for the 2nd half of Year 1 and all of Year 2, but I remember so much of the school, the area of the Gabba and the friends I made there. I also remember family that was there with me at the school. I went to a school fete in the 80s (1987/1988?) and bought a wonderful plant. It unfortunately no longer exists. I did sign the petition to save the school a couple of years ago when Pala**** wanted to knock it down. I'm glad it is still standing, smaller maybe, but nice to see the under the building area where I used to play with my friends. Your niece Jeanette DB.

Yes - The school meant more to me than Coorparoo high. I signed it too; was SO relieved recently when it was announced that the plans to 'move' it / demolish to some extent, were canned...All the stuff that's happened to the 'Gabba - all in the name of the stupid Olympics, which I for one have ZERO interest in, that goes for a mere 10 days!! Anyway - it was a mega buzz to have an intricate look at after 48 years!

Thanks for watching...When I watched again once public, I remembered something that happened under the school, and when I said it aloud, I ABSOLUTELY LOST IT!! Laughed SO HARD, at the thought of IF I'd mentioned it; it would've been SO FUNNY (to some people)...Can't really say what happened publicly, but I was practically disabled with laughter for 10 minutes at the thought of saying it! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Oof, Vicki was a bit harsh, eh? I thought you were a cutie, ahem, back then.😂 It's always fun to take a walk down memory lane. When hubs and I went on a trip to good ol' blighty, we toured all the places I remembered, like the village where I lived, where I used to walk a mile to the butchers with my sister to buy the sausages where we were assured we would be given a boiled sweetie each, our old house etc. And I can relate to what you're saying about everything looking smaller than you remember e.g. the stone wall along the route to the butchers was taller than me and I said to hubs, I don't see the wall, that's because, of course, it was about mid-thigh height, and our house was tiny! Enjoyed this. Cheers.😘
