What twits! They should have thanked the officer, not talked back, when he prevented them from getting run over by the horse. Pity he wasn't slower. On the other hand, they could have hurt the horse.

@@debrahelicke7204 it's on a public Street "Whitehall", i guess they could be moved back into the adjoining courtyard. 10 Downing street (i.e. Prime minister residence) which is next to it, used to be a public street upto the 1990's, until there was a mortar bomb attack. I think it's generally a UK thing, i.e. keep a lot of these things not cordoned off, sadly with increased Terror attacks etc, it's not as open as it used to be. The Houseguard's Cavalry have been around and at this location since 1750

Better solution instead of barricading the horses in would be chain link fencing keeping the tourists at least 10m away from the guards and horses. When it isn't the horses you see the tourists baiting the guards standing on duty - plenty of videos - so the better solution is to keep the tourists back. I don't remember them being this bad in the past but it isn't only tourists in London, it is tourists everywhere [and I don't live in the UK] that seem to think they are entitled while apparently most old castles aren't really old, they were built as copies of Disney or Hollywood castles [most of our are King John's castles, even if they aren't, and are definitely old]. Everything seems to be compared to Disney and people now seem to assume - NOT ALL but a sizeable minority - that they were built purely for their entertainment. I have even heard tourists complaining because the portcullis and drawbridge on one castle wasn't operational any longer [strangely the river moved over time and now flows to the side of the castle away from the drawbridge] and they should have made it work and put the front of the castle on the side where the river now flows. Unbelievable some of them.

@tommywolfe2706
@tommywolfe2706 Жыл бұрын
@@ABC1701A pretty sure the guards are there to prevent the need for extra security like more walls, more fences, more chains, etc. Also, that is a historic area, designed for foot traffic. Adding things like that would mean construction work (which would interfere with the tourists) and also require modification of ancient infrastructure, just for the sake of putting up an easily breached obstacle.

When you work with the public for long enough, then you'll learn that there are people who will argue with anyone over anything. If you work in a museum and you ask someone to remove their young child from their shoulders you get talked back to, despite the fact that someone's kid in that same position once caused permanent damage to an old master. But no, their kid won't do that, their kid won't bang their head on the low doorways either. Ask them not to put their hands over a barrier, why not? They're not doing any harm, they laugh at me. In this case, I let them get on with it and smiled at their sheepish faces when the security alarm went off😂

Once again tourists think that the police and guards are there for their entertainment. They are NOT, they are there to protect the king and his household, the guards are regular service personnel that just happen to be guarding the monarchy, just as the guards on military installations are there to protect and defend the personnel and infrastructure of their base/ship/airfield. When the guards tell tourists to stop doing something it is not them trying to spoil a tourists experience, they are trying to stop them going to far and having the horse lash out at them, same applies to all the guards, mounted or dismounted, and the police from having to take action to protect the guards and tourists, they are not there for crowd control they are also there to protect the monarch and his household.

2:06 - The best bit is the attention seeking Woman in the background who starts to scream about 'someone's coming out'. I immediately thought 'Yeah, what's next??, a shrill and unnecessary 'Oh My God'??', and then right on cue. Priceless.

It's time they had some type of rope barrier/ cordon around the front of the guards so that the horses and guards cannot be touched. The public are becoming more brazen in their behaviour, very little respect shown by some.

The more I watch these videos the more I think The King should withdraw these Soldiers and Horses from this duty..The majority of People today have no respect and do not find the same pleasure in them as people did some years back..time for change.

Just keep everyone out of the area. Let people take photos from far away and no where near the horses or guards.

Enough…I am not a UK citizen however, this blatant “ photo op” is unacceptable…?this is not a petting zoo or a photo op opportunity.,these are men and horses on guard , both horses and men. Stop this stupidity immediately…
