Glad it’s all working out and you have a game plan to get it back on the road. Sounds like the upgrade kit might be a good idea since you need most of the parts anyway. Yep, I agree with you. I don’t feel it’s necessary to check the rod clearance if the side play and end play is within spec. I’d wait to pull a compression check once it’s all back together, no need to pull a head for no reason especially since it’s not an interference engine and you weren’t in high rpm when the chain broke. Appreciate the update, have a great weekend.

Oh and one more thing, if your Valve cover is leaking in the rear, it will definitely contaminate your clutch arm rubber boot. It then will swell up really quick allowing engine oil to enter the bell housing and take out your clutch assy. FYI... Your Awesome...

All man, I didn't get you videos in time. I've been with Toyota since 92 and my Pops was a shop foreman for 41yrs with Toyota. 20r, 22re, 22rete all parts interchangeable and are fairly cheap. We use to replace these like babies drinking milk on a spring chicken day.. Double chains, aluminum rockers, 20r heads on a 22re engine, 20r carbs on a 22re intake, 95 starter on on older bell housings.. Any questions pls ask.

Back in the day I had a 92 Toyota extra cab 2wd. I had the timing chains replaced at 89k under warranty. I sold the truck several years later with 339k. miles. I only used toyota parts for everything on that truck. You can't kill the 22RE engine. I've worked for a local new car Toyota here in the Tampa FL. I would see these trucks running 5-600k miles all the time, in pristine condition. I also seen a 93 turn 1 million miles as well. Toyota bought the truck from the customer. They also offered to sell the family a new Tacoma now for half off. The customer declined the offer for a new truck. The had a 93 , 4Runner as well.

Hello Mr EZGZ, I have 1 question? I've watched many of your videos or putting transmissions together. Now that I have an opportunity to get a freeway flyer I have to ask, is it worth it for the engine? I'm driving a 65 VW Bug with a 1776 and stock transmission. What do you think? Oh yeah, which synthetic oil do you prefer again? Sorry, I think that's more than 1 question hahaha.
@TheEZGZ2 жыл бұрын
With stock size tires that 1776 should pull ok with those gears but you will definitley feel a lack of power and maybe run a little hotter. My Baja came with a flyer and had 30 inch rear tires so it felt like I was starting off in 2nd and hard on the clutch. I use 10w 30 with a 1/3 bottle of Lucas Zinc additive or whatever my mood is that day. I use 10w 30 Mobile 1 in my 93 Toyota as well so I usually have a part full jug. The inside of this Yota is amazing

Maybe you can help been watching your channel I have put a pump and filter system. that’s on your little red buggy horizontal filter. just to the left of the pump then decided to put a oil cooler drill the block and tapped it like you instructed top side of the filter pump arm removed a plug screw the nipple in there took that to the oil cooler then from the cooler to the engine block decided to run it through some RPMs in the garage about 2500 RPM blew my filter any suggestions like a full flow filter please get back with me and help
@TheEZGZ2 жыл бұрын
No, NO, No. Those horizontal filter pumps have big gears and that screw on top is a built in filter bypass safety not to messed with. A full flow oil pump system is the only time you go from the pump to the filter then to the main oil galley and plug the discharge side of the oil pump since your using a full flow adapter plate on the back of the pump. You need to do more research on you plan

@TheEZGZ2 жыл бұрын

@johnlist90542 жыл бұрын
I've watched several of you transaxle videos, but I've never worked on a VW trans. I intend to use my '74 Super for autocross, and also planned to install a 2056cc T4. Even though I have a '79 gearbox, I don't think it will live long as it sits. I believe I'd like to install a Superdiff, at a minimum, but cannot find information about how to actually install one. I'm sure they come with some kind of instructions, but I'd like to have an idea before I pull the trigger. Clearly, you're comfortable disassembling a VW trans. Is swapping a diff something a guy with no experience could do?

Hey buddy I have a 67 Baja beetle. Besides new tires, is there anything I should do to get it ready for the snow? Also, what’s a good weight to run on? Do you have any pointers on driving on the snow?

Find an empty parking lot during a snow storm and play around until you develop a feel for how it will handle. I run 10w-30 year around.
