The car market is horrendous these days 😭 It really seems like every company has gotten insanely greedy in the past 4 years and uses inflation as an excuse to raise their prices WAY higher than the inflation rate. Even the price of fast food has gotten obscene. Food that people used to buy specifically because it was dirt cheap now costs a fortune, and everyone is programmed to just buy whatever they feel like and then complain about being broke as if it's not their fault, so companies can just keep raising their prices because people keep buying.

@The_Stanman

@@greatcornholio5541first, this is a hybrid, not an EV. It has a tiny 1 kWh battery. Second, I love ICE sports cars but that's not true - it's just a right-wing talking point. The research shows: You have to look at full vehicle lifecycle. Most environmental impact is from vehicle operation, not production. The extra impact of mining is offset by year 2 of driving, and EV is SIGNIFICANTLY cleaner over full vehicle lifespan. EVs are also more recyclable. The batteries are full of precious metals so don't go to landfills. Happy to explain more if you're actually interested. Lots of interesting engineering on why EVs are so efficient (E.g., the thermal efficiency of an electric motor vs ICE, role of regen, etc.)

Carbon nanotubes and graphene usually use petroleum based resin as the base. These nano fibers themselves don't form a solid three dimensional material, it needs a binder to be a solid. So how is it clean to just make things out of plastic? Especially when these nano fibers are basically asbestos.

Hybrids , that get 40 or 50 miles to recharge and can use the gasoline motor on longer trips while slowly recharging the battery would be great. Most of our trips are 20 miles or less on average day. Pure electric is lacking battery technology that works well.

I just helped a friend of mine buy a low mileage 2016 tundra at a Toyota dealer. My friend looked at a new tundra and I pushed him away and said you want a tundra with a 5.7 liter v8 not a small turbo engine. The salesman at the Toyota dealer said they can't give the new tundras away. Sad day for Toyota their future reliability is of question in the future. Obviously the new tundra years from now won't be on craigslist with 260,000 miles and still running! Toyota needs to perfect their past engines and stick with them.

Regular hybrids use a Nickle Metal Hydride battery, not lithium ion. NiMH batteries last for a very long time, 10 years at least but I hear some people have kept the original for 20. Yes replacement/refurbishment will cost money but it's relatively cheap compared to Lithium, over a couple grand. Well worth having an indestructible transmission, the hybrid's eCVT, that you would have needed to replace or service on a regular gas car at that age.

@@kevc015 Except the 2025 Camry uses a 252 volt lithium ion battery. Toyota is moving away from NiHM batteries because the LI ion batteries have a higher energy density, are smaller and easier to package in the vehicle. Li ion batteries are coming down in price to the point that even using them on hybrids is now justified.

 @nitpoon7982 They last 10 years, minimum. Replacement is between 2-3 grand, like I said. @markantony3875 That's new, I didn't know that. It'll come down to replacement cost then, but if it's the same capacity it should be similar. But I do think it's unfortunate. @nitpoon7982 Toyota hybrids use eCVT. eCVT's are indestructible.
