The first Toyota to use the Prime badge was the RAV4 Prime. Because of its 300hp and speed, it gave the impression Prime meant performance hybrid. But Toyota then had a Prime version of the Prius that was far from being performance oriented.

The problem with companies like Audi and Mercedes partnering with Chinese auto makers to sell cars in China is that they are competing with startup Chinese car companies that don't make a profit on the cars they sell, but those cars are just as good as Audi and Mercedes at half the cost. The only way I see them competing is to forego any profits until the Chinese companies start going out of business due to no cash flow!
@nc3826Күн бұрын
The problem with that theory is there's plenty of cash flow for companies like BYD in China, even with the existing price war. Audi and Mercedes real problem is they have inferior vehicles. And hoping a Chinese partner will save them, is a last-stitch effort for survival .

@omelborpon315913 сағат бұрын
I might have bought a RAV4 Prime a few years ago, but could not find any for sale in my area. Toyota simply did not make many of them. It seems like Toyota were not committed to the idea of having a plug on any of their vehicles. So I bought a pure BEV (not a Toyota product) and never looked back. So thank you, Toyota, for your brilliant marketing strategy.

"GM/SAIC Ultra Fast Charging 900 volt LFP Battery Packs". Sean, why are you concerned about the "power" output being sufficient? Since voltage isn't the equivalent of power. Affordable EVs are trickling down to more price conscience brackets thanks to the used market. Meanwhile new EV production costs continue to go down as manufacturing efficiencies are achieved with scale and technology advances. Legacies seem to be struggling to stay on that progress bus, falling behind new players more and more. Except maybe Hyundai group, good job to them so far.

I hope Ford's hands free solution can now handle curves on the highway, this was a problem in the past, and kinda a deal breaker - and comical. With miles up I would hope this means they made progress in that area. I also hope they improved the disengagement notifications, it used to be almost silent, which, combined with said struggling with curves issue, was a bit of a scary omission. With miles up I would hope this means they made progress in that area.

Having worked in DevOps for over 10 years, I don't believe the issue lies with hiring practices. Instead, I think it's the shortage of talent. Michigan likely has some of the best automotive engineers in the world, which is why many auto companies come here for that expertise. However, when it comes to software talent, it's a different story. California remains number one, with Texas and NY following behind in developer talent in the U.S. Additionally, China has now grown to have a vast pool of software talent.
