Great video, I just started using the system in my new Highlander. I don’t get why people complain on camera angle, what button you pushed etc haha. Just be thankful he did a video.

Does the dynamic cruise control illuminate the brake lights when the vehicle is slowing under dynamic braking?

Excellent question! Yes, the brake lights illuminate under dynamic braking.

One thing you did not show was the vehicle distance you had it set for. I have a 2023 highlander le and set mine for max distance 5. mine still seems too close before braking starts to engage. I thought more bars the sooner it will start braking. Bars meaning one bar for one vehicle distance. So 5 would mean 5 car lengths to start slowing down. Am I right?

2 years ago start using ACC, using everywhere in city, 80% of driving, its kinda old news today. New german cars stops at red lights, slows down at sharp corners and so on. Swapping next month to Toyota Bz4x, keen to try use for like 95% of city driving. Manualy break only at traffic lights where no car in front and stop signs. Love it, forget how to brake pedal feels like.

I use Dynamic / Adaptive Cruise on all my cars for last 6 years now, from Audi, Lexus, BMW, and I can say Lexus/Toyota is not that good compared to other manufacturers- especially when driving in California where people drive very fast and there’s lots of traffic. The single car gap at cruising speed is waaaay too large where cars will try to slip in. The stopping point behind the car in front of you in traffic or at intersection is too far as well. And the stop-and-go acceleration is not as smooth as it can be- it will accelerate waay too slow at first, but then head into a traffic jam way too fast at speeds over 65. And at full stop- you have to manually reinitiate the gas pedal after 1+ sec. Toyota really needs to go back and research other manufacturers to learn how to properly program Adaptive Cruise Control.
