The New Kicks should be a relative hit for Nissan. They should sell the Sentra SR in the USA with the manual transmission (like they do in Canada) and try to go back to their econo-enthusiast roots. Also, the Nissan Leaf was relatively popular for those wanting a cheap EV. They should have done more with the Leaf, including maybe making a hybrid version. They've made lots of mistakes, but I hope they can survive and rebound someday.

I'm shopping for a new vehicle and at the top of my list is the 2025 Camry; however, as they are now trickling into dealerships, Redditors are posting window stickers showing markups of $5k over MSRP. Based on the information in this video, Toyota has no incentive to "make a deal" since people are gladly paying the markup price on these vehicles. My next option is the 2024 Sonata. I know Hyundai's reliability is not on par with Toyota, but I only drive about 6,000 miles a year.

Nissan offers a slew of e-power models in other markets, so it's quite puzzling, if not concerning, that they choose not to offer any in the US. Is there something inherently wrong with the technology that's to blame why they're not bringing it to the highly regulated but also highly litigious US? Because it simply doesn't make sense that they're struggling this badly, with market conditions ripe for hybrid offerings, yet they are steadfast in their flawed strategy.

Nissan continues to struggle with brand identity. Why would a consumer ever pick Nissan over any other brand. They aren’t the most reliable (Toyota & Honda), they don’t have the most tech for less (Hyundai & Kia), they don’t have the nicest interiors (Mazda), and they don’t have a loyal following (Subaru). They might be the most vanilla out of all of the Asian brands which is probably why rental fleets love them so much.

@@miraphycs7377 If all you can do is insult you just proved my entire point. Mild hybrids like Prius and Camry that get dramatically better mileage are fine. The issue is when you slap a “performance hybrid” in a Tundra for 4 MPG improvement and call it an “EV”. No one buys that statistic and frankly a lot of Tundras are sitting in lot because truck buyers want pure V8’s. But Toyota gets to claim they sold an EV with the Tundra sitting on dealer lot. If you’re calling this out coping, that’s because you have your standards on the floor.

Whos still buying the the part shortage excuse used to explain the current very low Toyota days supply numbers despite being now almost halfway 2024? I sense an intentionally limited production strategy intended to avoid incentivising discounts below MSRP and the need to sell more volume. They want to make sure people have fewer options hence leading people to pay the full MSRP. Even if you wait til 2025 or 2026, dealers will still be asking you to be on a waiting list for a standard Toyota model.
