The Toyota Prius+ is a larger seven-seater MPV version of the popular Prius hatchback. It uses the same combination of an electric motor and petrol engine to stunning effect - it's the only seven-seater model on the market that emits less than 100g/km of CO2. Don't expect driving thrills from behind the wheel though, the Prius+ prefers to be driven slowly and smoothly -- floor the throttle and the whine from the automatic gearbox soon becomes intrusive. The seven seats are arranged over three rows, and a huge panoramic glass roof -- fitted as standard ­- floods the interior with light.

I usually like powerful diesel engines, but this car is really great! It's really a different way of travelling but not necessarily a bad one. I have had many occasions to drive this car as a company car and I like it really much. It goes great around corners (for a MPV) and it is real fun to discover the economical potential without being a traffic block...

Perfect car for cabbing or family and city driving, no diesel equivalent at all. Smooth cvt and great economy, enough power when need it, very versatile, not the biggest mpv but the smartest for sure, not ugly, typical Japanese design. I love it

It's in the compact MPV sector there's loads of diesel equivalents! For instance the Citroen C4 picasso is cheaper and gets the same MPG!

Most Prius Vs are sold in North America, and they come with the NiMh battery. However, the European and Asian models get the lithium ion battery, but does not have the same capabilities as the NiMh.

And because of people weight , Toyota cannot put the same seats as Europe. For example, The Tesla have different seats in Europe, they are less wide. So if the car is not enough wide , the seats cannot be put in the boot.

Our 2.1 turbo Mercedes C class gets 60mpg so i see very little positives of a hybrid. I don't know why the government backs them when its just a petrol engine when only a little bit of extra power comes from an electric.

i love how if someone with a 5-6 year old car with 100k on it, all of a sudden feel the need to dump it and buy this to get 10 more mpg, oh and to try and save the world by polluting less, yet for some reason they don't realize that creating all those batteries along with all of the other parts on this car is polluting way more, go get a vw tdi, itll get the same mileage plus it will last twice as long, which means less polluting due to the need to produce less cars.

Just bought this car, cheaper if you compare it to an equivalent 7 seats,(touran, granPicasso or Alhambra) I Needed an automatic car for my wife and in Europe usually the automatic gear comes with the full equipped car version only but with bad automatic gears(apart WV). I have already used the 7 seats when in laws and parents come to visits they don't need to hire a car. Great mileage on the French countryside road up to 60 miles per us gallon(4 liters per 100km). If you drive few km a day your might get 5/6 liters per 100 km. A diesel touran or verso 150hp automatic would do much worse. Very silent, look like there is no clutch. No diesel fumes in the garage. I might miss a little bit the fun of my old Mercedes class A diesel torque but I don't miss the stupid 2011 ford Taurus awd I drove in US for 3 years.

Smax is bigger, and better to drive. However the Prius plus will be cheaper to run and they depreciate like a dropped stone so they are cheaper to buy used too. HTH

Toyota didn't want the 7 seat Prius to be in competition with the Highlander Hybrid. The Highlander will sell in the United States but not Europe or Japan.

I feel like this pruis does really need a diesel engine. A normal diesel car gets already about 50 MPG and if you combined that with an electric motor, well that would be easily in the 70 mpg range

Priuses are for people who can't do the maths, a diesel will now get similar mileage figures, and be considerably cheaper, and the fuel tank is unlikely to be worn out after 5-10 years whereas the batteries will

Admiral_Awesome diesel now days is rubbish. If you do the maths. In UK diesel is more expensive, it is much more to fix, it is less reliable then prius, plus they are trying to get rid of diesels in Europe all together oh and road tax is free on prius as well.
