Do the math, add in taxes, fees and interstate, the Tesla will always be more expensive because all of those discounts are applied BEFORE the taxes . The taxes, interest and fees wipe out everything. Base model 3 with $7500 down on 84 months is over $700 a month. For the base model BZ4X with the same $7500 over the same period is actually cheaper since the interest rate for the Toyota is lower than the Tesla. Add in FSD and all of that crap Tesla puts in their cars and you are paying over $1000 a month. So no, a Tesla is not cheaper.

@GruffSillyGoatКүн бұрын
It seems with the drop in battery prices the legacy automakers are passing part of the savings onto the consumer, just not by lowering the ticket prices that reflect the actual level of cost involved. Rather they are seeking to do virtually anything to keep their EV prices high, so as not to impact ICE sales nor erode their efforts in raising car prices over the years. Hence pricing favours discounts and interest rate deals rarther than sizeable reductions in the price of the car.

Meanwhile China has now signed more free trade agreements with countries in South America giving their car brands a marketplace of 3 billion people who make less than US$5k a month on average. The Chinese care makers have built car factories in South Africa and are now buying car plants of the legacy car makers. So I'm expecting Chinese cars to get both a lot cheaper and higher spec while legacy auto keeps putting up prices and lowering spec.

Now that Trump is going to dump EV mandates and slapping tariffs on China, things are looking up for legacy auto makers. Expect demand for all 3 power plants PHEV, Hybrids and ICE sales to soar in the USA . Individual states such as California and couple of other blue states will likely continue with mandates to the detriment of local dealerships and new car sales. There will be a roaring trade of ICE vehicles bought in other states and driven/sold back into the blue states as there is no restrictions on second hand ICE vehicles. (for now)
