Thank you so much! I had the exact same CD, with the exact same paper instructions, with the exact same problem: it installs version 15 just fine, but version 15 doesn't have the button I needed to get in and update the TPMS codes. Found the blog you mentioned, got version 12 in the virtual machine, and the button I need is finally there and I got the codes updated.

i have an old XP lappy that i keep for this sort of thing, where can i get the techstream to just run on this, the link seems to be for a version designed only for virtualbox , and it would seem crazy to run virtualbox on a machine that... is already windows XP, which should be perfect for TS. I am having an ABS issue on 2010 Prius that only has 120k! I plan to replace related parts then have the dealer to air bleed and calibrate the ABS. They want over $200 when i did the hard work already. Thanks to the mini vci cable and the Chinese copy cat I can buy all day long for under $20 and have access to service for not only Toyota but Lexus and Scion which i don't own. This is a must have tool as I have practically the same tool as the dealer tech. using for fraction of what they charge each time. No need to buy rip off price from Toyota or their rip off subscription either. You can find or buy online all day long for dirt cheap. Mine comes with license version. Knowledge plus action is POWER!!!!! A used window or macbook will work. I use MacBook Air with virtual window.

Thanks for the video. Do you know if this works on a 2022 4runner? I talked to the dealership about disabling the rear window buttons link to the door lock to see if I will be able to roll my rear window up using the buttons on the back without having to shut the car off and close all the doors. The setting in my manual shows it's customizable at dealership but they told me you have to enter a password in the software to make changes. It would run $160 and they are not sure what that change will even do. ugh! I don't know if the password deal is new or if that's BS.

Thanks for the video. Can you share what version of virtual box you were able to successfully use? I am a Mac OS 10.15.7 user and version 5.2 does not work which is the last version that supports 32 bit. Thx

I ran it on on version 6.1 which is the latest as of today. I was using it on an older 10.13 mac laptop so maybe try again? I just downloaded the "how to get Techstream in 5 minutes" search result so I'm not sure what is going on. Thanks for watching and good luck!

@@WastingTimeInTheWoods Thx for tip, that got me past part 1 of the problem. Did you install any drivers for the cable to show up? I can't get it to appear on my mac or virtual box xp machine. It seems that a driver is already setup on the VM but it does not recognize the cable. I purchased the cheaper one from you description btw. I also got a GX460!

@@ramzizaz Hey, buddy. Sorry you're having trouble. I had a similar issue at one point. Try restarting the virtual machine (windows). Maybe try once with the cable plugged in and once without. There should be a little USB detected pop-up window in the bottom right. I always hit cancel I think you definitely don't need a driver as the virtual machine from the ODB-II blog had it installed already. Good luck and let me know if you have more trouble.

I got techstream installed and working. However when it got to register my TPMS sensors, after pressing "write" to the ecu, it gives me communication error. I think it might be my cable. Your thoughts?

Hmmm. Im not sure. I only use mine for creature comfort stuff and checking for codes. Sometimes I get a connection error if I add the usb after I start the virtual machine. Try hooking it up and then restart the windows inside the virtual machine. Then install the driver when it finds the dongle if it pops up.

@@WastingTimeInTheWoods I can change other settings on the truck, look up live data, and clear codes. It is just that one function. I read that the cable needs a certain firmware to write to the ecu. Was curious if you knew anything about it. I also have a version running on windows 10. I can send you the ISO files if you want?

Doubt it, but there are newer versions available. They just remove the creature comfort adjustments in some versions.

This doesn't help me because I have a Mac that I would not like to use, and as such I will happily purchase a battered old 32bit xp laptop solely for this software. Which cable will work with what software as I can't even get vagcom to work on my other xp computer. I need to adjust my 2IS comfort settings. I still need help 😩

@@Donnie_21 open the ova with virtual box. The ova contains a copy of windows with techstream already installed and ready to go. Your windows 10 is likely installed in a .ova file. Think of the .ova file as a virtual hard drive and the one you downloaded already had windows and techstream on it.
