It’s nice as far as a stripper truck goes. The one downfall to using the same interior components as the high end models, is all the blank switches remind you there is a lot of features you don’t have. 😂

Great option having a 6 ft bed without the added length of the four doors. Wish they had added small doors on the rear for loading items in the rear section. I have a 2007 Extra Cab and use the small doors all the time. I like having a shell on the bed, but it will be interesting to see how they can design a shell with that rear spoiler. Hope they offer a sliding rear window option.

The Xtra-cab is the Taco I will buy. I have a 2015 Dbl-cab which has served me well, but I no longer need the backseat. Not that it got much use anyway. As long as I can fit my dog behind the seats, looks possible, and my wife in the passenger seat, also looks possible, this truck will do nicely. I also like the fact that if my kids take it out they max out at 1 passenger. This is a win-win.

Wish they didntt get rid of the suicide doors in the back though. Would be harder to always move the seats toward to get stuff back there. I’ll be getting the double cab.

Just wish there was at least the suicide door(s) still there. Removing the jumper seats I can understand, but loading heavy toolboxes, etc. will be a challenge, especially for those with back problems. Would be interested if this was available with a 6 speed manual as I'm not seeing info listed on Toyota's model breakdown.

I drive an older Xtracab with no rear doors. It’s a pita getting anything in or out of the back. All they needed to do was ditch the jump seats on the access cab. This is a step backwards to save Toyota money.

Thanks Jeff, My biggest complaint (for years) is that the smaller cabs don’t get much love from Toyota. This is getting closer to a nice truck. I hope when they reveal the SR5 version, it can be bought with a 4WD off road trim. If so, I’m in. 2 WD just doesn’t cut it in Alaska. Nice review.

I can definitely see the TRD Prerunner as that type of work truck and light offroad. It will definitely sell well. I like the color and the interior has a lot of space. I think for 2025, toyota will bring the TRD Prerunner as double cab. Great video :D

Love the Xtracab! Been asking for an Access Cab Tacoma in a TRD Trim without the Back Seats, but it was normally limited to the SR Trim Level. Seeing it in this Trim Level? With a Rear-Locker? AND SEXY TRD WHEELS? It's Fantastic for someone who wants some Off-Road Capability without having to go all the way to the TRD Off-Road Trim! I'm still iffy on the Infotainment Screen and A/C Controls, as I still prefer to have SOME Manual Buttons, but as long as it's something I can get used to, I won't complain too much there. But I LOVE that Digital Instrumentation Screen. The Customization you can do on it is Neat. Likely would prefer to have my MPG and/or Off-Road Info on each side. Could likely be what I trade-up to in the future if the Price is Right. Appreciate the Coverage, ToyotaJeff!

I would love to see the Toyota Stout with the access cab and similar styling. Love my 2022 Taco but a hybrid setup is awesome for one person commuting and the Stout is supposed to challenge the Maverik.

I see this as a great work truck for all types of companies from pest control to lawn care. It has the perfect amount of storage. I drive a 2018 Corolla and will definitely be trading it in for a new Tacoma next year. Leaning more toward the TRD Pro or Trailhunter.

I like the area behind the seat. Non one uses that space for seating. I use that space in my 2006 for storing tools. I have a bunch of Milwaukee packout boxes back there and it works pretty well. This new set up is better. However, it needs a little door. I use the little doors on my access cab every day. Super PITA to scoot the seat up and lean over it to get in the back. I understand it's just the way things are now but...I truly dislike the dashboard being a screen. I have no interest in any of that stuff. Don't care about adjusting settings on whatever it is. I've never had a vehicle that any of that was adjustable and it's never been an issue. I just want speedometer and a fuel gauge. Really don't need anything else and I don't want to be forced to stare at screens all the time. Didn't get to the engine but if it's that 2.4L turbo hybrid I hate it. Want nothing to do with any turbos especially on a little engine that's going to get burned out early. It's stupid. I have no interest in a hybrid. No interest in replacing expensive batteries. I buy a truck with the intention of driving it into the grave. You can't do that with one of these. The batteries will fail. The systems around the batteries will fail. All that complex computer controlled crap will fail. Sure you can fix anything but it's going to cost a fortune to fix the problems these trucks will have. They're throw aways. All new vehicles are throw aways. Just like appliances are now. Worst of all is it probably costs $50k. Used tacomas are going to continue get more expensive. At this point a good used tacoma is an investment. Like a house. It'll get more valuable every day. We are at the point where complete overhauls of good old trucks is actually the best option. My 1997 tacamo 4x4 access cab cost $18,000 brand new. Still got it. Still works fine. Have done almost no major maintenance on it. My 2006 tacoma is a great set up. Think they nailed it with that generation. Great engine. Great transmission. Stupid simple. No screens. No bullshit. Just get in and drive like a vehicle is supposed to work.

This should have been an Access Cab. The rear doors would make it easier to get stuff in and out and I personally would have kept the small seats. They do not take up much room and can still be used for passengers in an emergency.

The SR will probably be the most affordable. Considering Toyota threw a TRD badge on the Prerunner it’ll probably be priced below the SR5 but no quite below the SR.

Im not a fan of everyone switching to turbo for gas engines to save a few mpg. They don't last. I buy my cars for longevity. Where is the placement of the Turbo in the engine compartment? Are they still using plastic pressure relief valves on hot components?

I don’t have any information on the 5th generation sorry. And I can’t really talk about the special color. It will be announced probably later this summer or fall. I really don’t know the timeframe for it. But I can’t say anything.
