I had a similar situation arise last year when my wife and I visited an out-of-town church for a special service. I was wearing my baseball cap and at ione point an usher or some-such approached me and said "Take your hat off! You're in church!" I was asked this for years...but as of the last couple they never bother anymore with anybody not just me. This drove me nuts for years. I then put my bag behind the counter and when asked t get it after leaving I was questioned to say what is in the bag and just hassled more then it needs to be. And I think they feeled they don't want to take the bags because it is hassle to them at times when they are busy..it seems. But they don't do that here anymore which is good. Nice vid. They have that 'no bags allowed' sign at my local Toys R Us, but they've never enforced it for me. Just when you think Toys R Us couldn't get any worse! By the way, something I noticed when I went to Toys R Us in the States recently, they don't have that ridiculous cattle-run winding aisle entrance and exit anymore. I HATE TOYS R US!

I had a similar incident with a Chuck E Cheese like restaurant where they said I couldn't go eat their food without a child yet there were no signs outside the building stating that you needed a child and if I wanted to enter they had a stamper that said "Childless Adult" and a wrist band that is the same. I asked if this had always been the policy they said yes. Mind you I had a lot of piercings and didn't dress well. Then another couple came in and walked by without child or being stopped.

You can call there customer service the 1-800 number or whatever it is and tell them what happen and they'll send you a lovely letter saying sorry and give you a gift card of $. And then that manager and maybe even the team member will get written up or even fired.

Although I'm not a fan of the "discrimination" movement, SJW's, etc....I think you hit the bigger issue here at the over sight in these consumer/customer service based companies is the complete disregard for the #1 factor....the consumer them self! It's a two way street that us as consumers have learned and accepted such a low level of customer service/appreciation. But also, these big box/retail stores are not just failing because of online shopping, but more importantly have just taken the customer for granted for decades now. It's no wonder Toys'r'Us filed for Chapter 11 protection recently in North America.

I try to avoid going to toys r us unless I know for sure i'm buying something. The one by me has only one check out working, all the others are blocked by trollies, so to get out you have to squeeze down the isle with the working till. And when there are customers which there usually are, it creates for an akward situation when struggling with anxiety.

I am a Team Leader/Manager of a Customer Services department and I am kinda flabbagasted that they didn't resolve this issue better. The policy sounds like bullshit to me for a start but if somehow they have to enforce it they should have explained the policy word for word and taken your issue seriously. The first rule of customer service is to NOT lose the customer. Are you boycotting the place Glen, or are you going to take this further?
