how do you do it with no key button
@Lee_obschevy2 жыл бұрын
Mine didn’t work. It will let me inflate the tire until the thing is flat as hell and won’t ever beep to tell me to stop. Does that mean my sensors are junk?

So I did this like 5 times and every time I get to the third tire, rear passenger, no matter how much air I let out the car wont beep and the tire learning turns off and i have to start the process all over again to no avail. This is driving me nuts!!!

What if the horn doesn't blow on the frist tire the senser bad?
@mindyschocolate5 жыл бұрын
I need to try this. My FR tire has always been the first to read low, and even after the tire rotation to RR, it moved with it. Aired up all 4 tires to above requirements and for a day the indicator disappeared. It came back a day later, but I know I just aired up those tires. No sign of tire damage either. I’ll try this resetting on my 2009 impala and if that doesn’t work I’ll take it in. Maybe the battery’s going out.

This Looks so Easy, I can maybe try it out?? At the worse, I'll just have Under inflated Tires.

Does all valve stems have to be facing up for it to work or it dont matter
@ms94005 жыл бұрын
It does not matter where the valve stems are. The sensors are very low-power and shoot off a very low power signal. If you think about it, when the tire are spinning, each sensor still has to communicate with the tire pressure module no matter what the position ir else it will eventually throw a code. If a particular sensor is not reading, that sensor’s battery is probably dead and the sensor should be replaced.

would this work on a 2011 chevy impala also to reset the tire TPMS our car says it the left front tire is low put the correct air in it but still keep saying the tire is low
@ms94005 жыл бұрын
Wow! It seems you have stumbled across the reason WHY I posted this video!! From Walmart TLE tech’s to your high-end Master A-level techs, we all get stuck with tire rotations. In order to “learn” the which position each tire is in, this process must be done in this very specific order. If not done in this order or not done at all, the system could act completely normal but then indiciate that you have a low pressure tire that is not the correct tire position. The fix??? Make sure you check ALL your tires and not just the tire indicated on the dash. Just because it says “left rear tire low,” it could very well be the right front tire if the TPMS system was not reset after a tire rotation.

Is there any other way to go to learning active without using the key fob or tech 2?
@ms94006 жыл бұрын
On some GM’s yes, it eill be somewhere in the menu by around where the OIL LIFE is. Just like OIL LIFE, try holding down the check mark when the sensor readings are displayed. But it’s finnicky. If it does not work the first 3 times; assume that your specific model cannot br reset without tech2 or fob.

You forgot about the spare tire. Or is it not required for this way of doing the position test? *Edit* I tried this on a 2008 Impala LS just now and it also worked but not quite as smoothly. It did work though but I have a bad sensor in one of my tires. Thank you for the video, it helped a lot!!

Great video, thanks for sharing, I read in the comments and you answered my question. Everything goes great until I get to the last tire and nothing, going off what you said I guess that one is dead and needs to be replaced, thanks again.
@ms94005 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the sucky part about TPMS is even though the government demanded a warning system, it did not demand a system that works more than a few years, maybe 7-12 (batteries NOT serviceable), and the sensor stems are a different metal than the rim so now you have corrosion. Since I work automotive, it's "ka-ching" for me, but sucks for the consumer. You'll pay me 0.5 to diagnose which sensor is bad, another 0.5 for sensor replacement, and then another 0.3 to reprogram sensors to the ECU. If it's just corrosion, it pays me 0.5 for a new seal kit, which again, sucks for the consumer. I've known since 8th grade physical science that when you mate different metals together one will corrode... and then, the world keeps turning.

Yeah... Didn't work for me got no honking here went down and 19th lb no honking??????????
@ms94006 жыл бұрын
You are correct in highlighting a major mistake in my video and that is “what if it does not go as planned???” My apologies. Here is an answer. When you drop the psi 3 or more pounds, you “excite” the sensor. In fact, the TPMS tool used is called an exciter.” This means that the vehicle module does not care where exactly a signal is coming from, it is just expecting a signal. The module WILL however label the sensors in the cery specific order of LF RF RR LR. What I’m trying to say is to try a different sensor. If that works, try another sensor and so forth. The sensor(s) that do not respond are more than likely bad sensors. Each sensor has a button cell battery (probably CR2032) that is hard-wired into the sensor and non-replaceable. This battery WILL eventually die. When the US Government said “all vehicles 2007 and newer MUST have TPMS,” the vehicle manufacturers turned around and made TPMS sensors into a money-grab, like Dexos oil or WS transmission fluid. It’s all a money-grab. Before you know it, Chrysler will come out with a Mars-electron intergalactic standard for their 12VDC batteries. Regardless, you can use this video procedure as a diagnostic tool to find dead tpms sensors; or you can pay your local shop 1 hour minimum diag. fee.

This didn’t work for me at all. My left rear and left front is in each other’s position so I was trying to reset the sensors dropped about 8-10 psi from each tire no honking ever
@ms94005 жыл бұрын
I typically air my tires up about 6 or 7 psi ABOVE the door placard specs. And when i push the schraeder valve in, i count “one one thousand, two one thousamd three one thousand” and then I stop and wait. Depending on where you started, diwn to 19 psi is way too low.
