As the owner of two of them (had a 1980 5 speed manual and still have a 94 auto), I can tell you that most people underestimate them. Those are really good cars, not only for their time period but now as well. They will surprise you. Once I get home from this deployment, I am going to look into a 3SGTE swap. Even the wife has signed off on this one....with the understanding that she gets to drive it as well. lol

@@timothymarshall2365 You won’t regret a 3sgte swap. My 1998 was making 320whp with a 3rd gen 3sgte swap with just bolt ons and tune. It Will be making 400+ early 2021 with forged motor, cams and e85. Though saying that, I also own an st205 GT4 and a 3sgte swap can’t hold a candle to a GT4 in traction and handling in an application like this video

I was singularly impressed with how well the GSR held up within the first few laps. 1.8L 4G93T, and barely over 200PS. Also, 0:40 - 1:15 REEKS of nostalgia

I'm from 2002 and also love jdm cars. Got my license recently and didnt want nothing else than a JDM car. so i bought an mr2 hahaha. everytime i walk out i cant resist the urge to look back at it and be happy with it. everythings been stock/restored and been well kept. Just need to change the transmission since it creaks when going back to 2nd and the car seats are a little bit worn. planning on doing some changes on it to make it more mine and personalized!

What a fabulous run up. I thought the NSX is going to catch the RX 7 but that driver drove like hell. Exceptional but disciplined drivers, respect each other and still race hard. I especially looked carefully at the 300ZX with it's 4-wheel-steering ability. Only slightly better than the GTO , not bad. Awesome series, Thank you.

God 90s tires were absolutely worthless back then. Even in stock form those 90s cars will keep up with today’s cars (within the same power weight ratio.). If you just put modern rubber on them.

100% true! Look at the 1/4 mile times around 13 seconds. Compare it to CARWOW's dragrace battles. Today's cars need a lot more than 300 horsepower to go under 13 seconds
