I think intuitive eating can only work after you have learned how your body works. Depending on how fast your body takes to let you feel full. We usually don't know until it's too late that we are full and that's what probably gets people passing on the calories by a mile. Also, we have to have a trained body that knows what good eating and bad eating is. The only reason I would resort to intuitive is because I had my body go through different experiences with diets and portions. Only then would I feel confidence in intuitive eating.

People who eat intuitively do not have appetites. Those were the hard gainers. I used to be morbidly obese. I have to control myself everyday.

I'm the same way with intuitive eating. I refuse to track macros ever again despite knowing I'll lose weight easily, mainly because you have zero freedom to just really freestyle. So what I do now is just ensure at least 2 meals have high protein and low/moderate carbs meals because that generally fills me up. And very basic types of meals without extras thrown in. One meal will have more rice/pasta and the other will be something else like potatoes for satiety and plenty of veggies stir fried. I can generally eat like this up until a few days in and I will straight up just eat an entire pizza from little Caesars but it's just that for the day. Coupling that with just walking daily and working out intensely at least 3 days a week controls the weight which is all I care about.

I just track total calorie and protein intake. Carbs and fats are whatever I feel like. I also give myself leeway to over- or undereat in calories and average that out over the following days. It's not mentally taxing at all that way. All I do is add calories in a notes app and if I'm over or under the target at the end of the day I start the next day at a surplus or deficit. Roughly one third of my intake is junk food/snacks and I have zero issues with weight management on either a bulk or cut. I can eat pizza every day and have zero issues managing weight that way.

As someone with an eating disorder I have to intuitively eat as I tracked cals and it caused me to go crazy, I started binge eating. I’m against counting macros honestly but that’s just for me

What app does Bart Kwan use to track his food and fitness?

This is a great conversation. Not alot of people are educated on nutrition and food science. I learned mindful eating idk wtf intuitive eating was before this video but it’s the same thing. But I refuse to track macros bc my goal is to heal my gut to mind connection since I was a binge eater before. But through this journey, I lost 17 pounds the past five months and I know I did it healthy because I wasn’t restricting myself. Bc for me I know that Tracking macros as a beginner, can lead to a restrictive and unhealthy diet

Personally,I think tracking macros in my head is the best to mantain or doing a cut, intuitive eating isn't for me,I'd eat 3500-4000 calories,I'm at a point in fitness where bulking is useless(been lifting for over 11 years),I'd just get fat to have to cut back to where I am already
