Traditional Danish Town in America?! | Solvang and American Food | First VANLIFE Experience California | Brits in America Part 16

In this California travel vlog, we take our new campervan further north towards Cachuma Lake and make a few stops along the way. Our first stop was at Cold Spring Tavern, just north of Santa Barbara, where Alex tried some traditional American chili. We accidentally stumble across a beautiful, and cheap campground where we decided to stay for the night. After sunset, we drove to the nearby city of Solvang, a traditional Danish town in America where we fell in love with the cute danish architecture and festive Christmas lights.
After Alex gets his hands on some Danish sausage we head back to the campervan to give you a peek into vanlife, with our first attempt at transforming our campervan seats into a double bed.

⭐ About Travel Beans:
Welcome to the official Travel Beans KZbin channel! On this channel, you’ll find a variety of travel and vlog content, in which you’ll see us in places like Thailand, Japan, USA, Slovenia, and more.
In 2017 we left home with just £500 in our bank account and a dream to make a sustainable travel lifestyle happen! We are now living our dream as digital nomads and want to inspire you to create your own story, whatever it may be!
After 5 years of aimless, yet enjoyable, backpacking around the world we found ourselves in New York City battling with depression. At this point, we decided to go home and confront this problem head-on. After 6 tough months at home we decided to go away again, but this time with a goal in mind.. to turn travel into a lifestyle.
Our time spent battling depression has influenced our outlook on life dramatically! We are now traveling the world in search of what makes us happy. In our vlogs, we talk openly and honestly about our travel experiences, the digital nomad life and depression. We hope our videos can help to inspire you to create a life that makes you happy!

Catching up on your old videos... was on the Iowa River this morning, saw a red tail hawk, bald eagle, blue heron, and a crap ton of geese and ducks. Last year at one point we even had pelicans!

You’re tugging at my heartstrings!!! Yes Alex!!!! Birds!!! Always!! We feed lots of wild birds and adore watching them. The blue bird you saw was a Blue Jay. We have a visiting heron ( like you saw) who fishes in our small pond. He’s funny and thinks if he stands behind a tree we can’t see him! Dummy has a 4 foot wing span!! Ha! I camped at Cachuma Lake as a kid in the 60’s. Do you remember the number of your campsite? We always tried to get B13 or B14. I dragged my husband to Solvang before we were married to give him the cheesy tour!! Had fun though! He’s from Europe and found it interesting. Hope you had a chance to go to Pea Soup Andersen’s!!! It’s vegetarian Emma!!!!! Thanks for a visit down memory lane-I grew up just south of where you traveled. Wishing you had loads more time in America!!! Continued safe travels!!

@4:19 if you love birds, then try out the Everglades in Florida. (I know, it's crowded, but hey...) My favorite bird is the great egret, a white bird of the heron-family, and related to pelicans. Biological. Or pink Spoonbills, Anhingas, that swim underwater and then spread their wings in the sun and let them dry

I've been to Fredricksburg, Texas, which is this little "german" town. It was very touristy and underwhelming, especially considering the fact that I am german myself. But I didn't wasted much time and went to a nearby state park instead, which was awesome

@@betsyduane3461 A hot dog is NOT a sausage in the way this guy in the video is referring to it. We don't call a hot dog a sausage in the US. There are sausages--the kind of food he is referring to--and there are parts of the US where sausages are an important part of the local fare. But he is not in those places, and doesn't seem to be able to understand the difference.

Previous month I managed to withdraw my first five figure paycheck ever!!! I've been working for this company on-line for two years now and I never been happier... They are paying me $95 per hour, and the best thing about that is that I am not really that tech-savvy, they only asked for standard knowledge of internet and basic typing skill...Superb thing about this work is that now I have more time for my loved ones. I am able to dedicate quality time with my relatives and buddies and look after my babies and also going on family vacation together with them very routinely. Don't ignore this opportunity and try to respond fast. Let me show you what I do... *grab26.com*

As for amazing countries that have towns pretending to be other countries, try going to Argentina. In the province of Córdoba there is Villa General Belgrano. It's basically mini Germany/Bavaria in South America. It's really nice and has loads to do around it. As for BIRDS, go to Boise, Idaho and check out the Birds of Prey sanctuary. This dude'll love it.

Aww too bad I was late. I love Solvang but food in the area is usually a miss. At least around the tourist areas. Had a couple of bad experiences there wherein the restaurant served us microwave food 😡 and charged us a hefty amount. But Solvang is lovely. Are you guys heading up north? You will enjoy San Francisco. Or if you’re heading all the way to Oregon, Crater Lake National Park is a can’t miss. It’s so beautiful.

You're likely eating at the wrong places. Avoid Chomp at all times. It's terrible. You want to do places like the landsby, figeroa mountain brewery, firestone, wine merchant, panino, root 246, petros, the gathering table, fitspatricks, solvang brew is ok, Paula's or Ellen's for breakfast, el rancho deli is pretty good and their coffee bar is the best in town, red barn, dos carlitos, sy kitchen, bakers table, sy burrito, the alisal river grill, morrells, the marriot has good food too, sideways inn has a great bar and nibbles, pizza shack. Theres a ton of good places

Curious if you're still in town(well nvm this was filmed last month lol). This has been my hometown since I was little. My parents were both born and raised in santa barbara. We are long time locals! I could've shown you where all the good places are! Lol so right about it being tacky though as far as the look of the place. Lol you went to the wrong place for "danish food" it's the Americanized version of danish food so your expectations were too high. That's like asking panda Express to be authentic chinese food. Those sausages are actually nice if you dont have a pretense of what they are "supposed" to taste like. But you should've ordered the pastrami there and avoided the beer and gotten a cocktail instead(solvang brews beers are not good). If you wanted something closer to home you could've gone to Fitzpatrick's for a Guinness.
