Wow! Emma pronounced Oregon correctly. Nobody outside of Oregon gets it right, and she’s from across the pond. Well done Emma! (I’m a born and raised Oregonian).

I don't know why KZbin recommended this video, but I grew up a stone's throw from Muir Woods (you're mispronouncing it charmingly, BTW), and even worked there briefly after high school. Likewise, Muir Beach was the site of some of my finest teenage adventures. I'd hate to tell you what I got up to in one of the little houses you see perched above the sand. I haven't been back to either in 40+ years. Suddenly I'm feeling wistful...

Muir Beach is a spot I know well. Before the madness of past year, I was there once a month or so running on trails from Tennessee Valley to Muir and back. It is still lovely but some steep trails. Especially climbing out of Muir beach.

What a life you two lead. I have gone back and watched much of your older video's and they are just as magnificent. Though you both look much younger. I cannot imagine not getting up and going to an office everyday, slogging through traffic (Seattle traffic sucks) chained to a desk and endlessly repeating that routine as my hair turns gray and start to thin and my waistline just keep expanding and reminding me just how much life has been sucked out of me. In other words, I envy the both of you. Unattached to all of the material possession that trap us into these lives of desperation and dissatisfaction. Gotta make that boat payment tough and get the kids through Uni....😍😍😍😍 I love you Beans.

My neck of the woods ....Marin Headlands, Stinson beach area/Mt Tam are indeed amazing. So glad you two highlighted this area. Many tourists come to San Francisco and very few cross the Golden Gate into the parks. Did you know? This area saw the birth of mountain biking and is a trail running Mecca. It has the 2nd oldest foot race in America: the Dipsea race. Also during the Cold War, Marin Headlands (Muri Beach is right on the edge) was an early warning site. All sorts of old tunnels, military stuff scattered throughout Headlands. I wish I'd known about your channel earlier (just found it). Definitely would've offered to show you some sights. If you ever come back (if we ever get close to normal here again), Sonoma County is a hidden gem. Has everything you could want, wine, coast, redwoods, great food and some of the best beer in America. Mendocino County is another lovely place, also has a stunning coastline and redwoods.

Sorry Emma wasn't feeling well that day, otherwise you guys should push north a bit further. Stinson Beach and Point Reyes are both beautiful. The view from Point Reyes lighthouse is spectacular. Point Reyes lighthouse is about 40 miles north from Muir Beach. If you are a fan of old Hitchcock movie, you definitely should go further north for about 30 miles, to Bodega Bay, famous because of the 1963 movie "The Birds". The movie was actually filmed there, and several locations such as the schoolhouse and the church are still there.

All along this stretch, there's some great camping, too, including spots right on the beach.

After walking through Muir Woods, I always go to the Pelican Inn, just a short walk away. It's an English style hotel with a pub that serves bitters. There is also a great restaurant. Sp surprised you didn't go.

Your footage and editing are television network worthy. Along with your personalities. Watching this in June 2022 I wonder if she had Covid. So many people look back to that Dec 2019 - Feb 2020 timeframe with suspicion at their colds and allergy symptoms, including my sister and husband.

@3:30 If you ever have been to the Redwood NP+SP in northern california, you've been probably right. Muir woods is 10% of Sequoia or the Redwood Forest 500km up north. If you see this trees for the first time, it is great. But nothing beats Sequoia and especially the Redwoods, my all time favorite park. And no, salmons don't swim back to the ocean after laying eggs. They die.

That place looked stunning. Are those paid for parks a bit like the US version of the UKs national trust?
@mountainhobo4 жыл бұрын
Yes, but there are many free parks with equally gorgeous nature. It's just that parking facilities will be more rudimentary, and trails often narrow, winding, rocky or muddy. To be honest, I prefer that latter type of parks because there are far fewer people. ;)

Redwoods are common in the South of England, not quite as tall as Californian ones as were imported by Victorians so are much younger. Salmon die after spawning (females) or fertilising (males) the eggs so never see the sea again. They are around seven years old by this time.
