Thank you for educating me on a wide range of design styles. Since my design style is very eclectic, there are elements of each style you’ve presented that I can embrace, without making my home look like a mishmash. For example, keeping a neutral color scheme for my home, and using symmetry, really works with any design style. I do lean more traditional, mainly because that’s the beautiful furniture I inherited from my grandparents. However, I also like Arts and Crafts style, some organic modern elements and some Asian influences. By explaining the elements of each style, it helps me to break it down and understand what works and doesn’t work for my eclectic tastes. My notebook is getting full of ideas!!! ❤

Omg ❤every moment of this video Ashley!!!! Love timeless Traditional!!!! I honestly wonder about incorporating some African elements into this design style and how it would look? Especially since I love Mediterranean/Spanish style exteriors, but would love to do modern furniture with traditional silhouettes with some African decor and warm earthy neutrals and lots of natural materials and textures. Not sure if that makes any sense, but I see it in my head. 😅

Thank you for your comment! White and gold is a classic combination in my opinion! The key is combining them in a thoughtful and paired back way. I’d suggest adding accents of gold, like in picture frames, accessories and lighting, and then keep the classic white for larger furnishings and drapery! You can add pops of seasonal color in pillows, flowers, etc, but the base of classic gold and white will be timeless!

Dear Ashley, thank you for a beautiful video. I am all for the Traditional Style. I am renting a very small apartment in a beach town and the main focus in the small living room is a white wooden sleeper couch with a plain grey mattress. Which colours do you suggest I use for the curtains and scatter cushions? Will floral curtains with yellow and grey be suitable for such a small room? Thank you 🌹

I would like to purchase a grey rug/carpet with white stripes. The floors are bare at this stage. Please excuse my English as it is not my home language 😊

lol. I’m not an influencer, I’m a designer, for my profession. This video is about the elements of traditional style. A style that I completely appreciate, but not the style of my home. In my videos I give tips and information about a broad range of interior design styles, home/garden ideas and professional design advice to help homeowners feel confident and inspired to design their own homes. If I changed the interiors of my home, to coordinate with the theme of every single design video we create, I’d have to redesign my house every week.

I don’t understand your thinking. I can appreciate other design styles, and find beauty in them, even though they don’t work for my home or situation. For example, I love the organic modern style, but I inherited beautiful traditional wood furniture from my grandparents, and I’m not willing to give it up for more modern furniture. That doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate it. Your attitude seems a bit close-minded to me.
