Thanks for sharing what has worked for you, Audree! Could you also share about running/travelling while on your period? I switched to the Diva Cup after I had my son, but now I’m finding that it tends to come out as I run. I have since purchased a Nix cup, but I have yet to try it out. Hoping the different design will work better for me! I know that many people use Period Pants (underwear) but i’m not sure how comfortable that would be after six hours or more of running!
@audreelafreniere22587 ай бұрын
Ha, good question for sure. I have personally never tried a cup but have some friends who are fan of the Nix cup. My period is typically very light (thanks to my IUD) so I can get away with period underwear most of the time, even for longer events.

So glad you did this video! I really struggle when it comes to finding gear that works for me, being just over 5’11”. Even “tall” for some women’s lines aren’t really designed for me, and target more around 5’8” to 5’9”. Arc’teryx is one of the few brands I can typically wear and get a good fit (though I also sometimes have to select from the men’s line)! I’ve been using an Osprey day pack for longer days on trail but really want to invest in a running vest, but have been struggling on sizing and selection. It’s good to hear that unisex works for you for some items too!

Hey, I'm a 5'11 woman too. The Salomon Adv Skin vest works fine for me, I wear size Small. Their size guide (where you measure around your chest) was accurate. :)

I'd like to see more environmentally conscious apparel companies like Patagonia features. Arc'teryx is owned by the Chinese conglomerate Anta Sports. Neither company contributes significantly to grassroots environmental nonprofits like Patagonia does. Patagonia donates more each year to environmental nonprofits than all American and Canadian business combined. If you are going to make your living from the outdoors, than your company has a responsibility to support it's health. Something to think about in our appear choices, new and Worn Wear as well.

Thanks so much for this, it is super helpful to get some women specific gear recommendations. I will definitely be checking out those Arc'teryx merino blend t-shirts!! I'm also in the market for a new wind jacket and was considering the squamish hoody, but I think I will wait for the new norvan windshell to come out so I can compare, thanks for the heads up!
@audreelafreniere22587 ай бұрын
the Squamish is a great piece too! I wear it a lot for ski touring in the winter. It's an effective windbreaker, but definitely not as breathable as the Cita or the upcoming Norvan Windshell though, so for running specifically I would wait for that if you can :)
@brandielewis65997 ай бұрын
Thank you for your reply @@audreelafreniere2258 that's exactly what I was hoping as I wasn't sure if the Squamish Hoody was going to be as breathable as I was looking for.

Great gear review Audree. Arc'teryx are certainly great investment gear! For fastpacking, Black Diamond do the Women's Distance 22 with a more traditional front harness similar to the Salomon hydration vests 🙂

Thanks Audrée, great to see what you use! I’m interested to know why you use the ‘unisex’ Salomon vest fit not the ‘women’s’ fit. I deliberated a bunch before getting my Salomon vest and I’m still not sure if I’ve made the right choice! Would love to know your thoughts on that 😊
@audreelafreniere22587 ай бұрын
Hi! For me it just came down to the bottle placement - on the W's vest they are much lower and designed for different bottles, which I hear is a lot more comfortable for women with larger chests. Personally I don't mind where the bottles sit on the "unisex" vests.

I'm a big fan of Ciele hats for sun protection and style points ;) I find they are super durable, machine-washable, light and packable. I have a fairly small head and their ALZcap fits me the best. Otherwise I always carry a buff to throw over my ears in cold weather, or under a headlamp when running at night.

Have you (or Jeff) used Garmin's watches? I like mine but notice many ultrarunners prefer Coros, is it mainly due to battery time? Many, many thanks for great videos!
@audreelafreniere22587 ай бұрын
I have in the past yes, when I did more road running. Battery life is a big reason to switch to Coros or Suunto, although some Garmin models now also offer very long battery life. The main thing for me was the offline navigation, ease of route-planning right on the app, and the overall user-friendliness that made me switch to Coros.

Hi, I’m thinking of getting the Black Diamond poles. Why do you want to exchange for Leki? Which ones are you thinking? Thanks
@audreelafreniere22587 ай бұрын
Honestly the BD poles have served me quite well for the past 6-7 seasons - I have nothing bad to say about them. But they are getting quite worn out and I'm curious to try something a little different. Leki seems to be all the rage theses days and I'm sure they are popular for a reason :) I'm considering the Ultratrail FX one.
@JeffPelletier7 ай бұрын
I would just add to Audrée’s response that, the main difference with Leki is the glove system which is quite unique and very useful.
