Your Land Rover repair videos are a lifesaver! I've been grappling with a persistent issue on my TD5 involving excessive black smoke and noticeable power loss. Your expertise in troubleshooting and fixing Land Rovers has been evident in your content, so I was wondering if you could shed some light on this particular issue. Your insights could not only help me but also countless others facing similar challenges. Looking forward to your thoughts on this!

Hello guys good vid like it if you check the mass air flow sensor as a frequency you would be able to see glitches that volt meter will miss ,keep the good work

Good stuff Chris :-). This sort of thing around if the MAF has died often pops up on the d2bc forum, and it useful to see the readings via the ECM and direct from the sensor.

+Danny Otter I've got more to do on sensors and what happens if the 5v reference circuit goes down. Sometimes it another sensor shares the same feed it may kill off another sensor if it shorts to earth / fails.

Thanks for another great vid LRTbV. I just changed mine and used this prove it needed doing - was reading 5v on idle. Fitted new and reading about 2.15v on idle. Turned out one of the wires had melted completely! Do you have any similar advice/tricks for testing MAP sensors without a diagnostics kit? Cheers again, love this channel, best on KZbin.

+William Evans I will get on to the MAP and IAT sensors in a while.

hello my MAF is reading 1.56 - 1.63 volts at idle what should it be. on my rover 75 the maf sensor was 0.5 of a volt off but made a big difference. what is the tolerance for the td5. thank you for any help

Thanks again for the video. Just given my MAF the once over. All voltages look as they should up until the engine is running. I am getting 14+ volts when probing terminal 1 at the rear of the connector but can't get a voltage higher than 0.05 V when engine is idling? Haven't noticed much difference in the way the engine performs recently? What are your thoughts please? Jeff
@trailerfitter28 жыл бұрын
+UKDPO it could be that the MAF sensor is dirty. Can be cleaned with brake cleaner.
@UKDPO8 жыл бұрын
+Land Rover Toolbox Videos Gave it a good clean. But still no luck. Best I can get out of the sensor wire is 0.5v. Time to replace it?
@trailerfitter28 жыл бұрын
check on the pin that supplies voltage to the sensor from the ECU end. You'll need a wiring diagram and /or electrical library which shows you the connector plug pin designations then gently tested it from the back there to make sure iy is not the wire at fault first.

hi bud, what route would you go down if a td5 was purring and over feuling rather than scratchy and responsive! and you have been down the usual route of chaning things and numerous garages that couldn't fix it! thanks chris
@trailerfitter27 жыл бұрын
Hum. Hard one to answer. Especially if it has had in the past, without you knowing a chip or remap. this will throw some right of the correct scent. Fair few factors involved in fuel delivery especially if overfilling. Problem is garages want to satisfy the customer with a quick fix. Proper diagnosis takes time and investigation and internet guessing is not the right way to go with this. Everyone has had an experience or know someone who had a problem with x that was fixed by doing y and z to it. I'd say you need to find someone with a lot of knowledge with Td5 systems and has the kit to check it out properly............ failing that. Learn about the system on the Td5 throughly and spend time diagnosing rather than parts changing. Dunno what else to say. ???

Land Rover Toolbox Videos , oh god is the someway I could contact you over the phone tommorow? we don't seem to have the skill set down where we are compaired to the mids, had the vehicle from new , shes on a fifteenp engine. first engine was mapped after she got tired.this over feuling fault was there after we got rid of the map, we have changed the following, ecu, all relays and fuses, intercooler pipes, turbo, manifold, engine! feul pressure regulator, egr blanked off, no fault showing on t4/snapon fault finding units, injector harness, . but going up a hill or towing you put foot down and then come off gas and she lurches to life. no weird starting faults, wines noises, just lazy top end, no weird smoke bar a little bit of black that you can taste when stood close. all genuine parts. any advice would be grateful before I scrap it!

I am at work most of the time in the helping keep the wheels of industry rolling. Not easy to get hold of and distant diagnostics is not my thing. I think you need to have a word with Gary Woods at Alive Tuning. Who's map was it in the first place? Perhaps the setting the the injector feeling is not set back to where it should be. Only a guess at this point but someone with tuning software will be able to log and read the activities in the ECM fuelling strategy.

***** it was an auto logic remap,, but we got rid off that by putting a new map over it, I have also tried to get through to lr tech team regarding this but I have to take it to a dealer then for them to get hold of someone at solihull. If I do not get anywhere with lr, then if I get the vehicle to you would you be intrested on working on it?

+Adrian Kingsley-Hughes i am suspicious that it is the EGR wiring which has been terminated and the EGR removed. Will check into this.

i unplugged my maf for about a month didn't notice any difference do they actually do anything
@m.a.s.a.87173 жыл бұрын
In my experience the best thing to do is just to unplug it you don't need a mass flow on a td5 just keep the ambient sensor
