I agree but long as Ford doesn't repeat the same mistake they did back in 1978 with the Bronco. It's interesting in 1966 the Bronco was developed to challenge the Jeep CJ. In 1978 the Bronco was redesigned to challenge the Chevrolet Blazer. By 1995-96 Ford didn't know what to do with the Bronco so they discontinued it.

Hey Brad! Like you, I've got both (Jeep and Bronco) and it looks like we have almost the exact same build of the latter. I'm surprised you didn't mention the Bronco's cowl mounted mirrors. To me that was a "lux" touch for wheeling convenience -- putting those mirrors on the Jeep when I take the doors off is a pain, especially when everyone is airing down/disconnecting at the trailhead and I'm trying to get my rig tweaked for the day. With the Bronco, the mirrors are ALWAYS on! The other very nice enhancement from Ford is the soft top. I've got a soft and hard top for my TJ and have owned a JK with a soft top. I've got to say, I know Ford is having a lot of woes with their hard top but the soft top is GREAT! Very easy to quickly pull down when you want a true open air experience and easy to remove completely from the vehicle if you'd really like to. And there are NO zippers. Much less finicky than Jeep's stock soft top. I'd also rate the interior on the Bronco to be a fairly significant "step up" from the Wrangler. That said... like you, I still love my old hopped up TJ and it's still my go-to for serious wheeling. However, I'm looking forward to getting the Bronco up on 37s and seeing what it can do down the road. I think the jury is out on IFS but I'm really not expecting a truly maxed Bronco build to be able to keep up with an equally maxed Wrangler. There's no replacement for dis-- I mean, articulation. Looking forward to more of these, Brad! Keep up the great work, and I hope you and your family had a Merry Christmas.

Frameless Windows are super loud on the Hwy. Especially with strong crosswinds. They get sucked off the seal and let in all the wind .I canceled my Bronco and ordered a Gladiator Rubicon. Plus the motors are very complex in the Bronco. I've never seen so many hoses and wires. I love the Utility of the Jeep. PS this is my first Jeep and I had a 68 Bronco so it was a hard choice, but I think I did the right thing. Utility of the Jeep low tech is a big win in my book.

@Steve-yr5vi2 жыл бұрын
True that, I started using the rear locker more often instead of switching it into 4x4, it's surprising how well it works. When I first got it I was disappointed as my last F150 had an LSD, which always worked. I did a little research and LSD's fell out of favor because they one create more drag and thus impact fuel efficiency and #2, they are clutch based and so eventually wear out and the only way to identify that is take them apart.

I'm a Jeep wrangler guy and love my Jeep ..before I bought my Wrangler I had a 77 Ford bronco with SFA...loved my old bronco ( sold it for $15 thousand dollars) ..its big and wide going through bush trails compared to my freinds 4x4s that have IFS and its compact compare to my old bronco...and many times going through bush trails they have to replace the CV boots and that's one reason I won't owne a 4x4 vehicle with IFS and with my Jeep wrangler that has SFA like my old bronco and the Jeep more compact which means I could go through trails that have tight turns ..have no issues with my Jeep wrangler. Y did Ford went with electronic parking brake ? There's times when rock crawling or extreme off roading...parking brake comes in handy...and with the Jeep kept the mechanical or manual braking great idea..while the new Broncos have electric parking brake. With manual hand brake u could adjust how much and how slowly to release. Any other electrical that Broncos have like the GOAT mode knob switch...how long does the electricals last for ..while the Jeep has the good ol fashion manual shift ..( like my old bronco ) reliable. Could go on ...but bottom line I'm glad that the Jeep has a competitor to keep the Jeep wrangler their toes Great video and info

I think that MOPAR is going to have to seriously find a way to compete with Ford on how much capability you can get at a more affordable price. @@jeffforbes70 you must be confused with what a sway bar does. The bronco being on 3 wheels after disconnect has nothing to do with the sway bar but the articulation. If I get into a situation where I need more articulation it would be nice to be able to hit a button. I am not sure how you think manually disconnecting a sway bar can be done on an obstacle. If you are referring to starting out with sway bar disconnected then that has nothing to do with my comment. I think the Competition is for the Mall Crawler set and it should be pretty interesting. However, for anyone who plays outdoors I kinda think the suspension design locks in who the platform is for. IFS is going to be the more comfortable option for Overlanding Types and the laws of physics are always going to make straight axles supreme for wheeling. If you do both, all I know is I would want a straight axle for any trail I need to be in low for long periods with some hairy bits. From a corporate perspective, I feel like Ford does have the advantage of serving foreign markets with the Everest, Ranger, etc. I think some of their features come from competing against Landcruisers and Nissan in more austere country markets.

Been watching for a while and like your car reviews from the point of view of off-roading. A jack of all trades such as the Bronco will need to have compromises and many "tubers" hit Jeep Wrangler in the fact that they lean-to off-road enthusiast too much in the comfort and tech category, or lack thereof. I agree that the override on the OEM lights is a neat little deal and lockers across all line ups and better tires is the place to compare OEM Bronco and Wrangler. (Dodge has made high performance, low frills such as SRT CORE and SCAT PACK models.) But I would like to disagree with your suggestions to Jeep on a few things. Frameless windows, seats organizations on the seats, comfort of seats, and button location may be debated. IFS is more comfortable, and Toyota has been doing a great many things in that arena and I would think this debate will continue as it has with Toyota / Jeep and Bronco will join the newer Colorado, Ranger to stand against the long established TRD packages. But the Wrangler and Gladiator with solid axles and a manual transmission is awesome (and maybe a young person's sport, but still awesome). All in all, Bronco brings a long overdue level of competition to the off-road world but reading/wathcing many of these reviews and attending events my opinion is that the Bronco is not as direct of a competitor to the Wrangler as people want it to be, and there are few Broncos on road and less in the woods. Until the average Joe gets these things dirty and they are put through the paces for years a true comparison cannot be made. I rarely inject an opposing opinion, this is your channel and your opinion, but so many "tubers" are now doing car reviews and injecting what they want to change that maybe manufacturers will listen more to the outspoken bloggers (some of which are paid) and lose sight of the customer base who just enjoy the products for their intended purpose. Bau as always, long time listener / first time caller and keep up the awesome channel and take these comments as nothing more than a point of view. Happy Holidays and have a great New year.

I do not agree the interior of the Bronco is better than the Jeep. I seriously considered trading in my 2020 JLUR for a Bronco. Reviewing the interior the Jeep's plastic is thicker, has a better finish, and is more durable. On the Bronco it's thin. The part I'm talking about is where the shifters are at. I could not get over the cheap look. I told the sales manager, I could not justify the price over that and the wider stance for tight trails. Those fenders are awesome. Was actually talking to my group over the summer that I wish there was some kind of removable fender for the wranglers, had no idea ford was doing this. Hopefully the after market will bring this as an option. Also really like the door design. I really want half doors on the jk, but don't have room to store doors all the time, and I don't want to run half doors year round as the zipper windows are a bit tacky and would be tough to operate in the winter where im at. Again, Ford for the win.

The problem is that the plastic fender is removable but the metal fender is not and much wider than Jeep. Considering how many Jeeps I have seen rip fender of I can see a lot of Broncos with major damage after trail use.

Are we going to start seeing the removable fenders get stolen? Seems almost too easy to remove.

Frameless doors are bad when water freezes in your window door seal and you can't open the door since the window would be unable to lower out of the roof. That exact thing happened to my housemate's Mustang with frameless doors and I had to use my ice scraper in the seal area to get it to open...

Yea that was the one comment I disagreed with.

you mention in this video about liking the push button 4wd system on the bronco but shifting in to 4wd with a lever can be just a flick of the wrist. and generally the non electric is more reliable.

1. 35s from factory- hell yeah. Come on Jeepl 2. Late 2020 and after Gladiators can lock rear diff in 4 Hi using Off Road +. More cumbersome to do tho than Bronco. Jeep needs to make it simpler. I assume Wrangler had this too. 3. Not a fan of frameless windows. They’ll not fit tight over time and with door that come off are very susceptible to breaking or cracking window when door is off. 4. Auto up and Down windows. Im totally with you. One of my Jeep pet peeves too. Come on man, its 2021 and these rigs cost over 50K, some of em 60K 5. Pop off fenders. Smart. Yes please on Jeep. 6. Seats- Jeep’s are OK for me but I prefer a firmer seat. Kinda subjective. 7. Lights control- very cool, I’ll take it. 8. Surround cameras. Definitely helpful. Had them on my LR4. Used the passenger side one a lot when on my own.

would you not put the window DOWN before taking the door off? plus what do you mean when you say over time they wont fit tight... where they fit into is the same manner of slot as a framed window.
@dadventuretv25382 жыл бұрын
@@THE_CHOAS_ENGINE they do that lower and then raise in order for the door to close. My experience has been after a few years they dont seal great and you get wind noise (I had the most annoying high pitched whistle). With a buddy of mine’s car it wouldn’t go up all the way to seal, and took him a year of multiple dealer visits to get it finally fixed. Re taking it off- true, but I can totally see myself forgetting to lower it. Lol

The ifs is limiting factor. With a solid axle swap its contender. Lite Brite did a good modified vs modified. Step child vs bronco. I still think jeep did better. If jeep haf the turning/ dig option that b sweet

I think the 4xe should be available on all models . Not just the top two. Frame less windows never last. Hay use your off road pluss . It does automatically lock up the rear . I drove through that same area and never felt like I had problems. I was loaded too. .

Ive been in a jeep since '89 ,top of thr line sahara, out the door for $18k. So im a die hard jeep guy but lets face it , Chrysler can not make a quality product. Im on my 4 th jeep and i keep saying i will never buy anonymous one. But now i have a reason to. I took a broncos for a spin and its a glorified Wrangler, i just may be getting one. Its funny to see u, like me , slowley switching sides. Thanks for a great vid

Love that you decided to purchase a Bronco as well as having both the JL and JK platforms. Excited to see what you do with this rig and it’ll be nice to see you put it to the test compared to the Wranglers. From an FJ Cruiser owner, really excited to see more about this. Love from New Jersey 🤙

While I am a big fan of the old Broncos, I do have to say they were not very reliable from 1997 till 2020. I agree with most of your points but I have a hard time getting excited about this flash in the pan vs old reliable. In the end the competition should make the Jeep better. Thanks for all your efforts.

Of course, they weren't reliable. No Broncos were made after 1996...

The lack of auto-up windows is my biggest complaint about the Jeep. My 20 year old Pathfinder has it, why doesn't a brand new vehicle have it.

I appreciate your taking the Bronco out and giving a fair review. I do have one question, with IFS being a unique feature of the Bronco, why does everyone immediately compare the Bronco and the Jeep in a rock crawling setting only? Why isn’t there a Baja or trail run type of comparison? Do most Jeep owners focus mainly on rock crawling, or over landing, and trail riding. Just curious.
