This is easily the best jrpg ive ever played, the themes really stick and show how much the writers really care about these characters and story. I played 70 hours and didnt regret one bit of it, the story gets taken to new heights and the music is so varied. I love the way Falcom regresses characters and knows how to put a pause to allow things to breathe. If you've been waiting for this, you have a lot to look forward to, this is Falcoms magnum opus.

Think about what this means that we're getting Daybreak 2 already... It nearly guarantees that we're getting Kai in summer. The question is what game is coming from Falcom next fall... Sadly, Trails Through Daybreak 1 is the *FIRST EVER "Trails" game that I give a thumbs-down on Steam* (you can read my review on the Steam page for more info), so I'm not sure how much "excited" I am for this sequel, but hey, now that I'm 11 games deep into the series, I just want to continue playing *for the sake of seeing how this whole things ends* by the time we reach the series finale (which I'm expecting it to be with the *15th Trails game* IMO).

This is 28.5 months after the Japanese launch. An optimistic late November 2025 release in 2025 would be 14 months. If that happens it'll prove that Falcom was the main reason for the huge delays in the west.

I hope you keep your localizers in check this time. It's their job to translate, not their job to "improve" the dialogues by inserting their activism into games we as the customers are supposed to pay for. Faithful translations this time please. I played the first one in japanese, there was no pronoun-nonsense. In the english localization later on was pronoun-nonsense, which made me refund the game. I like this franchise, but I'm done with these ideologies. I do not support these activists who ruin literally every franchise by putting in their messages. Paying for your games would mean supporting these activists and their anti-consumer crusades. I'm not paying for their work ever again. And if recent video game, movie and show failures are anything to go by I am not the only one who is done with this stuff. Make games for the customers, not games for a hand full of activists and games journalists. To do so you need to keep your translaters on a short leash. If Daybreak 1 was proof for anything, then it is for the fact that a short leash is needed in order to have faithful translations.

Still have no idea how anyone plays these games dubbed, to be honest. They always sound like they got some random guys off the street to do the lines. The best part is when they shout and they sound like they're holding back and trying not to be too loud, it sounds ridiculous. And the voices never really fit the characters, but then again I find that to be the case in pretty much every dub of anime-style content, far from just Trails.

Which is fine, you can like what you like, but no, pretty much everyone who cares can tell you the English dubs for the Trails games especially are incredible, with amazing work from so many actors. They have so much effort put into them to the point that Cold Steel 1, 2 and Reverie have even more voice acting than the Japanese version of the games. Also "random guys off the street" couldn't be further from the truth. Especially for Trails through Daybreak, there are straight up veteran Disney voice actors in the game who have been in the industry for over 20 years. They spared no expense for the English dubs because they know how much people love them and how much extra interest the games get because of them. I'm very glad they would never do something as shortsighted as get rid of them just to try and speed up game releases.

@@TheCoolguymanly There are very few English dubs of Japanese media that I like, but they do exist. Final Fantasy XII is probably the prime example, the one case where I actually prefer the dub over the original. There's also a lot of dubs that I'm fine/indifferent towards, even if I'd still prefer the original voice work, but Trails dubs are definitely not in that list. In general, I find that English dub VAs tend to be fine when it comes to older characters and more realistic settings, but they're almost always consistently terrible at voicing younger characters, *especially* female ones which often sound downright unpleasant. Even when the VA themselves are young, somehow they end up sounding extremely forced anyway. Intonation also tends to be much clearer/stronger in Japanese VAs, which shouldn't be surprising considering the training standards for the Japanese VA industry are much higher than in the West.
