Trot lines and neck snares, I tear them up and down, take them with. Horses, all different. A few will get hung up, then tear an skin them selves up, if no training for it, a few will remain calm, and wait for help, love that kind…same with dogs….dunno about hounds, only had one. Brett you are living the dream on those mules, out in the wilds…..inspiring me, when spring comes around…Ha..I live at 7000 ft. Thanks Brett 👍🏻🤠

By the end, they all had it figured! Next time I bet none of em fight it. They might not want to come over to the tie-out(😂), but they won't fight it anymore. Nicely done. That's a nice tie-out cable for a group of dogs. Good equipment makes all the difference, IMHO. Thanks for sharing this man. I enjoyed heck out of it. I bet if they all got a rare treat while tied up, they'd associate it with a good experience. I freeze and save meat bones for special occasions.

Great video. I really enjoyed the rundown of the dogs and their relation to eachother. The long line this is just like tethering a horse. It keeps them, and you, out of trouble. As you said, us sled dogs guys have done it forever.

Hawk figured it out pretty quick. Ole Rusty wasn't havin none of it. Lol. I tie break all my dogs too. I'd hope this helps em out one day if they should get caught up. Heaven forbid. Good stuff Brett. Nice lookin hound dogs. Ole Rusty was frustrated and a little salty when I think it was Al ran up on him. Not a happy hombre. Lol. It's all good for em. They act a little dramatic, but it's not hurting them. Just like a colt. They learn to give in when tied. Thanks for showing us Brett. Interesting stuff. I like training critters.

I should of done it a long time ago ... when I was on the ranch we use to tie up the colts to a inner tube that was tied in one of the round pens ..tie em up and walk away ..Dad always said make sure you tie them where if they get loose their head stays right there lol
@JC-uq5gi4 жыл бұрын
@@BrettVaughnB100 lol. Yeah, you have to hang tough with em. They get loose by pulling back once, you have a chore on your hands then. I used an inner tube for that too. They don't usually fight it for long when they're colts. Trying to fix bad habit horses...that's another story. I get a stout inner tube, and a 6-8" tree for that duty.

Good video man! I like the introduction and back ground breeding of each hound, man I love the blue thicks and red ticks you have but for now all settled with the ugly red and white and walkers dogs I have, lol.
@BrettVaughnB1004 жыл бұрын
lol there are lots of good walkers I hear I think that is what Warner Glenn uses ... Thank you !

Yes Sr. There is! I know colors don’t catch but I sure love the look of a houndy blue tick, specially if they can cold trail on bare ground.

Seems like every day is training day. Tie breaking dogs seems to fix all kinds of problems from being gun shy to helping them load in the dog box. I can't explain it but I believe it's so. My dogs got to running trash a few weeks ago so I tuned them up a little and accidentally shocked my best dog for doing right. She's been a little confused ever since, I'm pretty bummed out about it . Hopefully she lines back out. I told her she was a better dog than I was a handler lol.

Haven't really done much with it until I started running into those snares but hounds do need to be trained to tie out.. I just got lazy for a while .. I've had lots of dogs that were better then my handling lol ..

Brett I relate to you so much Ole muleskinners know about cinching them mules up they do bloat yep I have used a t post driver I almost knocked my self out one time I saw stars 😂🤣 I use to watch them sled dogs too so you line breed you hounds like I do ?

Good idea to have the dogs ground tied broke. Impressive that you can remember all the history on your dogs. I've used a post driver more than I care to remember. HA .

Great video Brett! I love em all, but really enjoy the training type videos. I have a knack for working with young dogs, worked with Bear dogs, coon dogs, and now just have rabbit dogs. All the same to me, I just love the dogs! On the east coast here, tie out is the first thing taught. In my mind a must. Your dogs had no problems that I saw...quick learning. Anyway, more of the training...the scent training would be awesome for this east coast woodsman to see. Thanks again Brett!

Your welcome .. I had been meaning to train them to tie out for long time but just got lazy ... like you I just love the dogs ... if I didn't need to sleep I would be running coons at night lol .. most of the videos coming for the next month or 2 will be these diary videos besides the interviews .. if I get time I will try to start editing the scent training videos .. they are kinda hard to work with .. Thanks Timothy !

That's a great looking pack of hounds. In my part of the country having hounds broke to tie is an absolute must, actually learning to tie out is the very first lesson all my pups have to learn before they are ever introduced to the hunting part of it. You will never regret teaching them to tie but like you said its very possible you might loose a dog one day by not tie breaking them. The more things you teach ur hound the better off you and it are in the long run. Be safe out there and i look forward to the videos to come.

Ohhhh yes. Hahaha. I was an old hand with a fence post pounder by the age of 16. Lol. The ordinance of no tying up your dogs...I'm sure it's got good intentions, but it's also a sign of how stupid we're getting as a species. Lol.

Yeah I think because there are people here that just tie them up and never get them off the chain .. you could always tell the bandits around here .. they would have a big dog tied at each door to their house lol
