What a fantastic series of videos! As a complete beginner, you probably saved me months of headache, which may have resulted in me abandoning Trainz. I cannot thank you enough!!! h!!!!

Sharadise, I was recently tempted back to Trainz with a good offer for TRS 22 with Content Surveyor 2. It must have been at least 5 years since I last looked at the game and I have to admit I was floundering (considering I used to make my own content in Blender). Thankfully I found your series which I found to be very professionally produced and informative. Thanks for all your efforts in making this series. I have subscribed, hoping for some future gems.

sharadise thx for your great route building tutorial series, your such a great tutor explaining evry little detail, really well done. You deserve way more viewers then what you have! Keep up the good work. BTW I would like to see a tutorial on how to port content from older versions of trainz to Tane and then i dont mean through that slow dls ;)
@Sharadise4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the compliments! You can export the assets you want to port as .cdp files in the old trainz version via the content manager, and then drag & drop those .cdp files into a content manager window of the new trainz version to import them there. If the assets you are porting have dependancies, those will still need to be downloaded through the DLS. Also, if you are porting your own assets, make sure that the KUID of the old asset doesn't already exists in the version of trainz you want to port to. As for the DLS being slow, you can buy first class tickets from the trainz store which will greatly improve the DLS download speed. At the moment they are on sale: store.trainzportal.com/products/first-class-ticket Hope this helps, - Sharadise

Thanks Sharadise this series was an excellent introduction to Trainz and in fact to me seemed quite in depth. You had to decide at what level to pitch it and as the saying goes "You can please some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time!" Thanks for all of your work in creating the series I hope to take at least some of it on board (literally or should that be virtually?)

Would it be possible to demonstrate how to create straight vertical edges. For example, I am using Trainz to build an O-scale model railroad using imperial units. I am tracing over a hand sketched layout plan. I would like to create the look of the layout above a floor with straight vertical edges at the walls and aisle ways. How would this be done? Or if you can point me toward another tutorial that would be great. Thanks.
@Sharadise2 жыл бұрын
I've never attempted to create a model railroad in trainz myself, so I unfortunately don't have any personal experience to share. If the question however is simply how to create sheer straight edges in the terrain (that are on the grid), I would suggest using the copy/past tool to copy a section of terrain that has the desired height, and then pasting it to create the hard edge where needed (so that the edge of the copied area then becomes the "cliff"). Another bit of advice is to download other model railway routes from the DLS, and dissecting them to see how they were put together. I would suggest searching for routes on the DLS by the author "philskene", who also has a YT channel with quite a few videos on trianz model layouts: kzbin.infovideos I hope this helps.

Could you make a tutorial on how to make really specific custom portals? I can do basic portal stuff fine enough, but I'm having issues when it comes to the finer details. For example, my hoppers leave the portal empty and come back with corn. I would really rather them come back with Grain_HP, but can't seem to find any way to specify that. Thanks.
@Sharadise3 жыл бұрын
I don't do much with portals myself, so I can't really help you. However I would suggest you ask in the official trainz discord server.
@zackbobby55503 жыл бұрын
@@Sharadise I'm on the official Discord and I've been mostly ignored. It's just annoying how the portals don't remember the settings you put in for the cars. Do you recommend then, if I want to have an "off route" destination for some of my products, that I just do it manually with multiple industries and hide it?
@Sharadise3 жыл бұрын
@@zackbobby5550 That is one way, or you could maybe do something with triggers and the instant load/unload driver commands.
@zackbobby55503 жыл бұрын
@@Sharadise Ohhhh triggers and commands I hadn't thought about that. Haven't ever really messed around with it either. Do you have a tutorial on how to do that?

@@zackbobby5550 The basics of driver commands are covered here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmPXioyDeJWLrrc A thing to keep in mind is that only driver commands will be available for use that you have enabled in the "Driver Command" rule. Sorry, but I don't usually recreate real-life routes in trainz. I like the extra creativity that comes with making fictional routes more. :)

Have any of these routes been released yet?
@Sharadise3 жыл бұрын
Yes! The first one is on the DLS, it's called "Scar Hills Subdivision". The TANE version has the sessions, but there's also a TRS19 version that only has a MP session. "Coalmint Mountains Railroad" has not been released yet as a LOT of stuff came up, but I'm still working on it, and it should be released soon. Thanks for reminding me to update the description!

Thanks for the series! It is very helpful! To 7:38, a tutorial video about interlocking towers would be nice. The ‘official’ one from N3V Games (kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJSUY3yCg8uSpZI) has a video quality, which might have room for improvement (to say it friendly). As well, in this context some explanations how to set up a single-track route with intermediate block signals would be helpful.
@Sharadise4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I don't really use interlocking towers that much. When I make a single track line I usually just place normal signals at the ends of passing loops. Yes this isn't ideal for AI trains that you just tell to "Go to station X" (because then the AI trains will go very slowly past the yellow, even if the actual red signal is miles away), but when I make sessions I tend to hand-craft train meets anyway, so that really isn't that big of an issue. Additionally you can place invisible signals along the single track section in the individual sessions to avoid this AI train slowdown without risking trains getting stuck (since you know that in this session no train will try to come the other way). Additionally you can use the Set Signal session rule to manually set some of those "yellow but still miles away" passing loop signals to green, which will make AI trains go past without slowing down. When I gain more experience with interlocking towers I will consider making a tutorial about them, but that's probably still a long way off.
