I don’t know how the gorillas stand all the whispering and giggling. As for the constant clicking of cameras, and moving around to take yet more pictures - you would think it must drive them insane. They are incredibly patient, tolerant and gentle souls. How would you like it if troops of strangers appeared in your home, and behaved as these tourists do?

These tourists obviously don’t know how to act. You never see videos with this much movement, talking and giggling, as if they’re on a jungle joy trip! Laugh while thy pass gas...bet they don’t know why they do that with such frequency either! Show respect for the amazing creatures by keeping your distance and staying quiet.

@@km6341 and the tourists don't listen to the Guides. You'll hear him saying get down, stop taking pictures, but tourists like these don't respect the Guides. There's a certain Silverback that does not like the clicking noise of cameras, or when tourists don't back away if the young Gorillas try to play with them. Your supposed to gently walk backwards until the "playful toddler" gorilla walks away. If the Silverback sees you doing that, he is satisfied and feels respected. If you're an a-hole tourist and you notice the Silverback keeps looking at you, then put your damn click-click camera away, and get down as low as you can with your head down. Do not look up. I'm sorry, but that Gorilla had every reason to do that.

@@km6341 there's a video where a Silverback comes over to a tourist who keeps taking pictures and he and 2 others are too close- so Daddy Silverback walks over to them, actually SITS down, and poops on him. Then he walks away.

He's watching Mommy and his Baby very intensely and everytime you hear a chest best or deep vocal sound coming from that "moving" vegetation, do yourself a big favor and BACK UP, GET DOWN, AND SHOW RESPECT.

Notice the look on the tour guides face?? He’s saying without saying it that man is lucky to be alive. He’d been warned several times to get back and this Silverback showed great restraint in not killing him.
@ilovesteveclark6084
@ilovesteveclark6084 2 жыл бұрын
You are so right, the Guide kept warning that idiot that he was gerting too close, and the man totally ignored the Guide. It's so insulting to the Guides when the tourists don't listen. Oh, and I had realized that wasn't even Charles, the Alpha Silverback. He was still up in his throne behind the huge mass of plants! The one who attacked was standing on the ground and had some random small light patches on his back. Charles and him had been communicating with each other and Charles probably ordered him to go and push down that irritating, stupid man with the white hair because he kept getting too close. I think he did a great job, and Charles was probably very proud of him!

That lovely male mountain gorilla knows how to get peoples’ attention! Any animal is going to do almost anything to protect their young ones. Even humans. You certainly couldn’t blame him, or label him as aggressive. In actual fact, he was extremely restrained in the circumstances. I think most people would know not to go near any babies or young gorillas. You shouldn’t really need to be told; (someone said they should have been told by the rangers where to sit).

Those humans are keeping them alive, tourism has been and remains vital to their protection. The money it brings to the people and region has been pivotal to the gorillas as it insures the people there have a self-interest and motivation to protect their assets - in this case, gorillas. It’s a win win situation when you consider the alternative.

the male gorilla that stepped over the person is a blackback. You can tell because it doesn't quite have it's silver saddle and although it is putting on more size, its much more smaller than a silverback. You have nothing to worry about because he is a blackback and not a silverback.
@babazuki4725
@babazuki4725 Жыл бұрын
He's not fully mature. That doesn't mean he isn't ready to throw down. And adolescent males are actually very feisty. They're full of hormones and ready to prove themselves. He's probably more dangerous to humans than a full grown and experienced silverback that knows how to lead a family without hurting any of them.
@HelicopterMaster3000
@HelicopterMaster3000 Жыл бұрын
@@babazuki4725 Blackbacks don't attack people with aggression like how most other gorillas would and also blackbacks tend to test the tourists or mess with them so it's more play than it is an actual attack. A Silverback is more dangerous for one they are incredibly large and strong and two they can be unpredictable in terms of their mood. So if anything he would have had a better chance of survival from a blackback rather than a silverback. Also if the silverback wanted to, he would tear him limb from limb so don't underestimate the strength of an adult male gorilla.

You guys are all arguing that he was too close to the baby, well, if that had been the case, the MOTHER would've reacted, as well, and she would've done so BEFORE the silverback even knew what was going on. He's in charge of protecting the GROUP, but the mothers are equally responsible for protecting their young. Trust me, she would've reacted, too. We don't always know why animals do what they do. I think the people just might have been in the way of the male....he clearly wanted to get through, tried communicating it, people didn't understand, so he just walked through and sat down on the other side. He wasn't interested in fighting anyone, so clearly he didn't see any of those people as a threat. He would've behaved much differently if he was in protection mode.

I realize you posted this a year ago, but I've been doing a lot of mountain gorilla conservation investigation in following up on many of the families of gorillas descended from those Dian Fossey originally studied from the 60s and 70s. I used to think like you, but since those times, much improvement has been made to the habitat these endangered gorillas live in, and these 'tourists' (yes they were too close and laughing) pay a great deal of money (I think on average 750-1500 US dollars) for a park permit to go see them. That money goes directly towards paying for the 'guards' and guides who are actually protecting the gorillas every single day, 365 days a year from poachers, and many of them are ex-poachers, or would have been poachers themselves. So you see, this tourism has actually benefitted the gorillas a great deal and also the communities of humans living around the base of the mountain since the tourism money also brings them much needed healthcare and education. Here's a really great video about one of the agencies that works to educate the locals so they will protect the gorillas. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZKpdYCuhLulrdk They've reduced poaching and hunting (with snares that can harm/kill gorillas by accident) by providing them goats and land to farm instead. It's a win-win for the gorillas and the people who live around them. I know the tourists seem stupid and this video is older (5 years ago) and I believe now you cannot ever get this close because humans can spread diseases, like Covid, flu, etc. to them too. I understand why the tourism to go see the gorillas is necessary now - it brings a lot of much needed money there to help protect them.
