I just want say thank you. This video saved me some $$$$. I replaced the larger limit switch. Well that worked for maybe a couple of days. I watched this video again and didn’t realize there was a 2nd limit switch. I pulled the old one off and cleaned the terminals since they were developed corrosion on them. Worked great after that. I did end up replacing that 2nd limit switch and replaced the 2 female connectors.

My heat went out on my Trane XR90 last year and the HVAC tech cleaned one of the switches, but said it was "old" and might have to be replaced soon. Well, low-and-behold, the heat went out again. I checkout your video and I was able to have a better understanding of the situation. My tech is coming out to check again, and now I'll be able to communicate with him a lot better. Thanks!

Good segment, about 6 month too late for me had the same issue on my XR90 in the fall of 2020, this would have saved me a lot of time figuring out the problem!

That first switch you showed is a rollout switch. It trips if flame blows back from the combustion chamber.

Does this problem stop the burner from lighting? I am heading to the attic to check mine. I thought the burner would still come on when the thermostat called for heat. But I know newer furnaces are more complex than the one I used to have.

The setting on your multimeter that you used for continuity is actually diode check. You need to use the ohms setting for continuity.

Currently working on a Trane Standard Heater Mod # TUE060A936K2 that blows only cold air sometimes but lately has worked well even though nothing has been done to correct the situation. What could be the cause? Which part(s) would I most likely need to replace? How should I test the system to be more confident I have found the correct problem?

Did you need to take it out to test it ?
@Grrrnthumb Жыл бұрын
No, these can be tested in place just fine. I'm sure he just took it out to show it to us more clearly.

Your inducer fan is very noisy, most likely there is something caught in the fan blade and rubbing, like leaves or twigs (birds nest) or rodent activity

Sounds like you have problem with your inducer motor.

Your industrial motor should not be that loud sounds like it's wearing out.

You clearly don’t know how a multimeter works. That’s not the continuity setting. That’s the diode setting.
