When your little girl likes monster trucks and you have to force (force being the key word here) her to wear dresses and do girly things. The argument isn't that we think it's transphobic, the argument is that it's ABUSIVE! The only time it's okay to "force" your kid to do anything, is when it's for their well being and to keep them safe. If you're doing it just because you "don't want them to turn gay" or "it's not proper for a young lady to act like that" etc. it's abusive and manipulative and toxic. That's the argument!

its so sad, grown women force their children to wear dresses because they're insecure about their kids gender. wtf it doesn't mean they're trans if they don't like dresses. the majority of my female identifying friends hate wearing dresses and the one friend I have that is questioning their gender likes dresses. the way someone dresses doesn't mean shit relating to their gender identity!

If I have a kid when I'm older I am not going to make them wear things they don't want to wear just because it's the gender norm like if I have a girl I'm not going to go out of my way to get more dresses for her and if I have a boy I'm not going to go out of my way to get him a little suit but I'm also not going to go out of my way to buy them clothes that are typically worn by the opposite gender if I see something cute I'm going to get it and not really care if its not meant for my child's gender. Also with that, it would just be when they are too young to care what they wear when they're old enough to choose what they want to wear if my son wants to wear a dress then I'll buy him a dress its really not that hard to let your kid wear the clothes they want to wear

Noah taking about having transphobic parents really makes me feel a lot better about my situation. I’ve have to deal with transphobic parents for the last three years, I’ve come out four times and each time was dismissed. I’ve started recently socially transitioning, and I’ve found that my friends are living examples that my parents *should* be more accepting. I’ve asked them to call me by my chosen name and pronouns and was turned down, I asked to buy a binder and was told that it was, “a big commitment that we’re not ready to make” not a commitment for me. For them. I also bought the binders with my own money and they were stolen by my parents. I struggle with coming to terms with the fact that they could be better and that they should be better. I feel like they aren’t bad parents, but if it were someone else’s situation, I would say they were. Thank you Noah, you saying that transphobic parents are sh*tty means more than you know.

Im cis, i have a baby who is afab, i use she/her pronouns for her (but if she realises others suit her better when she is older then absolutely i will use other ones). I dont dress her girly and have asked people to avoid dresses and pink because as soon as people hear you have a girl that is allllll they get her. Her clothes are very neutral, mainly from the boys section but some from the girls. I bought her one dress recently but i keep things like that to a minimum. Partly because i would hate for her to be trans and then hate that i dressed her all super girly, whereas if the clothes are a bit more neutral she wouldn't necessarily be as ashamed to show baby photos etc... but also because i dont want to put gender stereotypes on her. Like regardless of anything trans related, i don't want her thinking she has to play with "girls" toys and only wear pink dresses. That way, when she gets old enough to show a preference she hasnt been pre-programmed to like those things. And no doubt the world will try and put stereotypes on her, but i want to try and limit any that we put on her (nobody's perfect, we all live in this world after all). That's just my opinion on it and i dont look down on anyone who wants to dress their child more gendered (although you would be surprised how offended other mums are or they tell you, oh she will choose pink herself anyway!), like what you do is up to you. I didnt find out the sex and i remember a woman at my work saying if you have a boy, your partner can go take him to play sports.... i just said, oh he can take a girl too... 🙃 what person in this day and age thinks only boys like sports... its 2021.

So keeping clothes a bit more neutral just feels more comfortable to me than overly gendered. It's not just about clothing because as she understands more, it's about not overly reinforcing stereotypes. Clothes may not have a gender but in society they are treated like they do. Her grandma has already bought her a bright pink walker that is shaped like a pushchair with a doll in it but waited until her boy cousin was out of the room (3 weeks between them) to tell me it was for my child. Even though i have explained not wanting to overly gender her with clothes and toys.. Also it feels like colour coding my child for her genitals which to me feels a bit icky. The thing is, it’s not just transphobia, it’s also sexist because if we strip away some of the layers the core premise is that all afab people are weak and delicate and need protecting and all amab people are beasts whose sole motive in life is sex. Like I can understand not wanting people to get assaulted, but maybe then we should teach cis men to not assault people, instead of assuming that is inevitable and forcing women to have to be afraid of men?? But also if not wanting people to get assaulted is their supposed premise, then they should want trans women to be protected most of all since they are statistically the most likely to be assaulted.

If they were seriously so worried about people getting attacked in restrooms maybe they should plan the spaces better. Yeah, my kid has a problem that destroys all his self-confidence, that makes him hate himself, destroys his mental health and maybe self-****, develop eating disorders or addictions and more, anxiety and depression that wil last for many years if not kinda all their life once its there, prevent him to be successfull in school and so have all the chances to have the job he wants, and not have a joyfull social life. We should definitely wait until he's 18 to do anything.
@zachrubinic46853 жыл бұрын
I think parents should always be supportive of their children that come out to them. At least they could entertain the idea of a social transition. If they truly are “confused” they’ll realize at some point “oh this isn’t right for me, I was wrong,” but that’s when you support them unconditionally like pls

how are transtrenders good? they undermine the whole thing.
@geminiwolf00772 жыл бұрын
@@FreeTheDonbas There's this thing where when times get safer and safer for gay and trans people, the more they'll feel safe coming out. There's nothing trendy about about being trans/non-binary and there's nothing trendy about being cis. I'm non-binary myself. Sorry, having barely any rights doesn't seem like a fun trend, buddy. And, clearly you're just here to stir up drama, as I've seen you in other comments sections. And, maybe, I'm proud to be non-binary and like to flaunt it as I damn well please. It is not my fault that people are transphobic. Transphobes are gonna find ways to be transphobic regardless. I wasn't put on this Earth to please ANYBODY, especially transphobes. So, your problem is with transphobes, not us. I do experience dysphoria, but euphoria is way more positive and clear. It's why I'm planning on going on hormones and getting top surgery, but not bottom surgery because I'm not dysphoric down there. You can kindly fuck off about with your whole "they make us look bad". No, I am not gonna pretend to be someone I'm not just so I can get some cis approval. I ain't nobody's bitch, you got that? Suck on a dick.

I've only recently accepted I'm trans and what always annoys me is when people say it's a choice. It's really not. I'd choose to be cis if I could. I'd choose not to be a demiguy if I could. Being a demiguy is really complicated to explain and it only complicates my life. But I know deep down that I'm a masculine person. I don't like she/her pronouns. It feels wrong to be referred to as female. I know I won't be happy pretending I'm a woman because I'm not a woman. I feel extremely dysphoric over my own body rn since I have "feminine features" as my family puts it.

Exactly. My parents say I can only transition when I'm over 18. Now, I would understand this if they were referring to me getting top and bottom surgery because it's a pain to reverse if I get this wrong and two, it's expensive to reverse. But they said that I need to 'tow the line' as a girl and that hurt. It hurt knowing they knew what I was going through and were still forcing me be a girl with girl pronouns and a girl name. Folks arguing against a point that wasn’t actually made by the opposing group is called a “Straw Man Argument.” So like saying that trans people are saying cis people can’t raise their children as their AGAB, I’ve never heard that come from a trans person and never thought that myself. Something I do identify is looking back and wishing I had grown up with less strict gender stereotypes and had been able to dress the way I wanted, and done the things I wanted to do. Straw men arguments are designed to be weak because as the name would imply, they’re a lot easier to burn than any actual argument one is making.

So many trans kids are being treated with the " you can do all that when you're older" and a lot of them are suffering because their parents won't even try to change their view. #1 reason why I left at 18, my dad hates everything about it +stepmom and my mom is actually accepting of it but she lives really far away. Thank you for speaking up on this matter. Being an adult trans person is one of the hardest things mentally to exist and the fact that these people are entitled proves further that these idiots know nothing about what they're talking about
