On the subject of waterbased satin I do tend find that there isn't enough sheen to the finish as you would get with oil based paint .. What I found that worked really well is use Bedec aqua advanced undercoat with is excellent then the topcoat satinwood is a mix of Bedec aqua advanced satinwood with aqua advanced gloss .. so a litre tin of satinwood poor out a quarter of it and replace with bedec gloss then mix thoroughly. The finish is excellent very close to a oil based satinwood...

Have you tried BM ScuffX yet? I've done a video on it last year . And there's another coming next month. You'd be hard pushed to know if it's oil or waterbase. Apart from no smell lol

I got my tin from Paint Monster £45 for 5lt. As I previously mentioned, I found it tricky to roll, probably roller sleeves or the fact it was over contract matt. Finish is nice and going to use again on a job in May.

Nice one! 2nd coat go on ok though?

@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator 2nd coat better but still didn't like rolling it! Starting to think it was roller sleeves. One was 9in two fussy blokes, can't remember the other one, Nour Elite? Time to buy new sleeves.

Phil, interesting approach to the blister problem you encountered. It sounded like you scraped these away whilst the paint was still wet. I’d be nervous about blister ‘creepage’ as it’s then easier for the paint to get under the blister edges. What’s your advice?

it was on the first coat, seeing it did my head in so i whizzed it off while still damp and easy to remove... been there today.. all looks good with it.

Didn’t rate the wrx satinwood myself 1 coat of 123 then 2 top coats and found it quite grinny. Scuff x or helmi for me

Hi Phil......I've been having some problems with blistering paint.Just painted some newly plastered recesses with 1 coat of Crown Cover Matt, then 2 coats of Crown Scrubbable Matt.The problem areas seem to be around where the galvanised corner beadings are located.Should I have primed these first with a metal oil based primer ?? Or would a waterbased adhesion primer such as Caparol Haftprimer have been sufficient ??
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator

Same sort of bubbles like I had in the video? It more a case of the cheaper contract paint, then a better quality paint going over the top. Do they pull back? If not scrape them off and touch in with PeelStop, fill the edges if needed then touch up.

@13:10 what would “whisking” air into the paint do exactly?

if they don't disperse they still may be sitting on the surface when you paint. :)

123 is not a paint I would consider very often at all, purely for opacity reasons alone. Even 2 coats of it can appear lacking in opacity. Can't think why you would use this primer to test any topcoat paint when there are other primers like Ben Moore Hi/hide & Caparol Haftprimer etc at the same price or less with much superior opacity and/or adhesion ?In fact, Lower-end Fastlow would probably be better value in some cases. Also regarding the ceiling paint, what other paint/brand are you comparing it to ? Ben Moore ceiling paint is a great flat paint, as is Capasilan by Caparol and as you say, anti-reflex paint. Thing is, no one would spend any additional money for premium paints on a rentlal property for ceiling paint. I would also challenge you to list the number of clients who have ever commented on ceilings in general. Never met one. I don't know your motive on youtube but If you are trying to appeal to Decorators, then I would suggest keeping it simple and promoting or highlighting products that are beneficial to the Decorator's profit and well-being. If you have other intentions, then the best of luck to you.

1st things first.. want to make enough money from youtube to get me a 911 :) Right.. 123 was used as a grip coat ... (I'll use it on all the woodwork in the property to get every paint I use the same base).. as the previous paint was Oil eggshell/satin. S I'm not looking at the 123 as an opacity paint to cover the magnolia/gardenia colour.. purely as a grip coat to transition from oil to water based paint system. Comments on ceilings.. my customer dis last week after I sprayed their ceiling with AR2... couldn't believe how good it looked... and they'd painted the ceiling previously (poorly) with a roller and contract matt. Videos are there for anyone to enjoy.. DIYer, Proffesional Amature, Semi Pro or Professional. Thanks for you indeth reply and for watching the video.
