@@prince_sach50 3 months and you are expecting to see changes in facial form? Really? Percentage wise how many months in your entire life so far did you have poor oral posture + function and how many months do you have better OP&F (I would be shocked if it was close to perfect for much of the time now)? And you are expecting to see dramatic changes. Give it a year or so, continue to work hard and you will certainly get somewhere, but otherwise I only answer this question as an example for others to gain a clear understanding of the situation. NOTHING is going to occur in 3 months. It would make no sense that it does. You have started a path, keep going and in time you will see or feel benefits, but it takes time. This is possibly one of the most important things that you do in life. You do it for appearance reasons while I want to see the health benefits, either way it is really important that you take this message to spur you forwards. Make this the way that you are, change yourself for the better. But don't expect results in 3 months. Best wishes, and enjoy the journey. Mike

I can see why Back sleeping is important for Facial development to maintain balance and symmetry of the face and jaws. However side sleeping provides the effect of the glypmatic system by using CSF to clear out plaque and toxins in our brain. So I should do Side sleeping one benefit or Back sleeping for the other 🤔

Beautiful work man. You’ve got my admiration both as a professional and as a human being. I’m 44 years old, and I don’t expect much change in my facial features. But you know what the best part is? It doesn’t matter. What matters is that I do my daily practice, and that I’m happy to do it. Slowly, slowly, everyday I move from an unconscious posture to a conscious one. That makes me happy. And if I can give my children a positive influence, a good example, and help them grow and develop well on their path, I’m much more than happy. Thanks for the great work.

Hey! Not so much on my teeth (that have always been a bit forward), but for sure on my tongue and jaw muscles. After a couple of years, I can say that my tongue has shifted positions to the "ceiling" of the mouth pretty much for good. No need to think about it, it's just there (even though I still do my practice out of maintenance's sake). About the jaws, I haven't seen much visual difference, but it certainly feels strong. And about "not seeing much change in my facial features", perhaps that's a good thing considering I'm 46, and not getting any younger 😄 Idk, perhaps there's a correlation there, between getting older withou having our facial features drop to the ground. Id love to hear what Mike thinks about that line of thinking. Hope you're all doing good. Cheers!

Mewing absolutely changed my life. I am eternally grateful I have found out about this. I used to hate myself. My appearance and everything. The right side of my face was absolutely underdeveloped. I had an awfully assymetric face. Then I started mewing and I'm sure that that helped me to like myself more. Who knows the effects that TMJ, and craniofascial dystrophy have on mood. The connection between the vagus nerve and the digestive system... And hence serotonin production. Idk. But however, since July last year I've been stable. And my mental issues were heavy. I'm not saying it was the only thing that helped me, but I wonder how much of my recovery can be attributed to mewing and its positive effects. Now my face is almost symmetrical, I still have crooked lower teeth, but I'm finally content with who I am. Thank you so much, Massi 🖤🌿

Carl Ju brother calm down, almost everyone have an asymmetrical safe it's not a big deal. Mewing will definitely help if you're under 25, but work on our posture too. A lot of people with asymmetrical face also have asymmetrical neck, so yo need to work on your neck too ,by stretching the stiff muscles. Overall body posture is very important, as important as mewing. I started mewing 6 months ago, I'm19, I'm already seeing some good results. Do not hard mew, it can cause even more asymmetry. Good luck.

@@heidip1782 Heidi it's not possible with braces alone to pull top jaw forwards. You may be able to get some expansion of the palate but not movement of the posterior maxilla. @@reaganhadaway6619 I see. I was 13 when I first noticed my class 3 bite developing. It had probably been developing way before that. It became very obvious by the time I was 15. Being a teen an all, I was so embarrassed for having it and would try it hide it from others as much as I could. I would keep my jaw slightly open 24x7 because that way, it wasn't immediately obvious my lower jaw protruded forward. I kept myself in denial that way till I was 21. Once I had come to terms with it, I felt so liberated. It was only then that I realised my self confidence issues hadn't just come from out of nowhere, that it wasn't an inherent flaw in my personality. That's when I decided to seek treatment. I'm 23 now. I'm 1.5 years into my treatment using braces. When I had to choose between braces and surgery, all the dentist's I consulted said my condition wasn't bad enough to warrant surgery. Now nearing the end of my treatment, I feel a lot better. The treatment only fixed my teeth, so my lower jaw still clearly protrudes outwards, and my upper jaw is still set back a bit. But I feel less awkward when I smile. When I'm out with people, I no longer feel like a piranha whose lower canines are jutting out. I sometimes wonder what would've been if I had gotten surgery. But I'm happy with even the progress I've made. Now I'm trying to build my confidence back up again.

What a beautiful smile young Polly has, what a treasure for her to be able to express her sparkling personality with confidence. I also had issues as a young child and adolescent but here in North Carolina in the states, there simply wasn’t an awareness of alternatives to the orthodontia that made some of my underlying problems worse. I’ll recycle the phrase, but knowing that Mike Mew is out there gives me the “steely confidence” to know progress can be made when you understand the fundamentals and begin making the necessary changes. Thank you for coming forth with Polly’s story for KZbin, it’s something people need to see so that more young families can have the confidence to do the work required even if it seems untraditional.

if you have an actual malocclusion that is skeletal in nature rather than dental, then braces aren’t going to fix it. neither is mewing. the physical bones are malformed therefore they need to be corrected with surgery. if your malocclusion was only dental, then there’s no reason they would shift back to where they were unless you were not wearing your retainers correctly, retainers need to be worn nightly for life to retain your teeth’s position.

this does not work for many many patients, it works best in children. when you have a fully grown malformed adult jaw, headgear or mewing does NOT work long term. if the issue is skeletal rather than dental, the only reliable treatment is surgery. i get that people are scared of that, but there’s no scheming going on here. when an orthodontist tells you that you need surgery, you likely NEED surgery. if a doctor told you you needed knee surgery and was able to explain to you exactly why and how this would be necessary, you wouldn’t doubt them. there’s no difference. no one is being cruel.

I love how this unconventional orthotropics not only changes the appearance of a person but also set them the right mindset about correcting posture in everyday life. Usually, people who used normal orthodontics will only rely on the technology and not make actual attempts to stop bad habits causing dental and facial problems, because they have always thought that facial abnormalities can't get better without operations or high technology methods. But prevention is better than cure. What really matters is awareness, since awareness results in actions to refrain oneself from having bad postures again. Those who have been through orthotropics and mewing, and those who simply believe in this whole theory will have an overall awareness of their tongue posture, sitting posture and sleeping posture; therefore, they strive to enhance them by themselves
@Tigersox24
@Tigersox24 2 жыл бұрын
skeletal malocclusions can be GENETIC. you cannot “prevent” getting a gene that causes abnormal growth in your jaw bones????? 3 other people in my immediate family have this skeletal malocclusion. no amount of correct “posture” could have changed this for me. posture cannot move your fully grown malformed adult jaw bones. this is so misinformed. there is a reason that surgery is commonplace for severe skeletal malocclusions in adults, thats because it is the most reliable, precise, well studied, and least risk of relapse.

The Myobrace was invented by Chris Farrell in Australia in consultation with John Mew. The Myomunchee was also invented by the Bourkes in Australia. Steve Lin is a progressive dentist who encourages good oral posture. John Mew has known all these people for many years and taught many of them.

I've raised these issues to my GP, dentists. Several dentists have commented on the severity.... GPs have dismissed me as having psychological issues. Quite an extraordinary experience. Hello doctor, I know it is weird to say the least, for I have never even seen you personally, but you changed my life, I went from having a long and weak jaw and a not very attractive face, to having a way stronger jaw and a good looking face. My face is not perfect yet by now, but the change is visible, you can actually see by comparing the old pictures to the new ones, how different it got. I am almost 17 and when I started I was almost 16, so I have practiced orthotropics for a bit more than one year, quiet a small amount of time for my age. The only thing I struggle with is bruxism, which I had way before starting orthotropics, and I guess I got it because I used to chew with my right side more than the left one, thus if I put a big amount of pressure in my palate or chew too much hard food or gum, my left jaw joint starts to hurt a little and crack when I open, but it is getting better based on how I am gradually applying more pressure, even so, is you could give me some advice in this matter i would be very grateful, because, unfortunately, I live in Brazil, so it would be very hard to go to your clinic, and there is no orthodontist, that I know of, who uses a similar method and line of thought to yours in my country. Again, I am very grateful for your free content and will to help others, your work is grate, and I wish you the best.

Please start treating cleft children? I understand that they need some surgeries, to close the cleft. But they have to go thrue sooooo many horrific surgeries since they are young children.. I was born with a cleft palate and mewing has helped me and i started mewing when i was already 22, ive never been different looking externally but i had open bite (also i have 4 baby tooth that i don't have adult tooth to replace them and only 1-2mm thin bone in places where i have baby tooths). But basically im living proof that mewing helps, even if you have a cleft. Doctors have cleft children since they are babies, if othotropics was added into their treatment it could do sooo much for them if they were treated with it since they were born. Im worried if i will have cleft child one day when i have children since i have cleft palate myself, if i do i definitely want this treatment for her/him. It shouldn't be about doctors and their egos, it should be about " how do we make this child healthiest and happiest person possible with least amount of pain?" I promise if im unlucky and i one day have a cleft child, i will change world for that child, no matter what i want mew`s treatment for my baby.

I had such a good facial structure until 13 when I got a twin block brace, for about 2,5 years i think my teeth position hasn’t been te same since and even without retainers my teeth are getting more crowded (I’m 17 and started mewing at 16). My smile looks wider so I do not know why my lower teeth are crowding. Should I get a upper palate expander? Or will this drop down my maxilla because of the lack of tongue support? And if i keep my teeth together my mandible will also expand. Thank you for reading

This video reminded me that when I was 4 or 5 I had an underbite. Not as bad as this, but I definitely couldn’t force my upper teeth over my lower teeth by pulling my lower jaw back. I remember getting a retainer, and after a couple days I broke it into four pieces accidentally, biting it. My parents made a deal with me: if I could fix my teeth myself, they would buy me a motorcycle. So for the next two years, I spent a good portion of each day pushing on my upper teeth with my fingers and tongue. I remember several triumphs along the way: the first time I could touch my lower front teeth with my upper front teeth, and then the first time I could slide the uppers over the lowers slightly. In retrospect it seems insane, even abusive, that my parents considered this, but it worked. At some point when I was 6 my underbite was gone, so they bought me a Yamaha 50. I’m 39 now, and my teeth have been fine ever since- though I did have my lower wisdom teeth out at 30 because they were protruding.

@@d.n.8919 Haha, reading the original comment I realize I forgot a couple other details: the first time I rode the motorcycle I made it about 10 seconds up the gravel driveway before losing control and veering right into the barbed wire fence that ran parallel to the driveway. This was particularly distressing as the throttle was the sort where you rotate the entire handle, and when I crashed the handle was buried in the ground and stuck half open, and because the tires, having become detached from the ground, were no longer acting against the motor, the motor was able to just rev higher and higher, toward a terrible high pitched crescendo. When that happened (and it would happen countless times over the coming years) you had to get to the kill switch as fast as possible. The second anecdote is that my sister and I would ride the motorcycle in the morning the half mile up the driveway to our grandparents' house, where the bus would pick us up for school. On some especially cold mornings the motorcycle wouldn't start, and we would have to run frantically to make the bus.
