I'm about 4 months in right now and I'm tired of it. The back of my hair broke off over a year ago and suddenly stopped relaxing. Every part of my hair is a different length from about 3 inches where it broke to just past shoulder length. My edges might be thinning, my hair's shedding quite a bit. I've never had my hair trimmed/cut & I know I need to but I have severe social anxiety which means I won't go to a hair dresser. I know there's nothing anyone here can do but I felt like I needed to rant lol! Your videos give me a little motivation though so thank you!

Charlene Raymond Hey I understand I actually decided to start transitioning because my edges are thinning out, and my hair is also resisting relaxers, while your transitioning just continue to cut a few inches of the relaxer out every month it may help a bit, just keep transitioning, your hair will get better, or you can just do the big chop
@veronicanicolee7 жыл бұрын
Charlene Raymond I'm 7 months post relaxer and to help I just keep my hair in a protective style like Marley twist or box braids. I don't go to a salon for trims I trim my own hair. There are KZbin videos to help.
@HealthyAfroHair7 жыл бұрын
+Charlene Raymond Awww...you're welcome, glad to hear it 😊 Maybe ask a friend or family member to do it for you and get them to cut it to one level, so it can grow back nicely. Also, if you think it might be too short, you could always consider getting a protective style till it grows out.

Your hair is looking great and thank you for the tips! I big chopped in the beginning of April 2017 and it was one of scariest yet freeing experiences I've had. Also you're super pretty and look like Naomi Harris to me. You could pass for sisters lol. Looking forward to more videos from you! xo

I'm in my 4th or fifth month...reached 2 inches already, my hair's already fuller, and I'm cutting my ends regularly. I've also seen less shedding.

Thanks for the tips. I have to cut off the relaxer. I’m 3 months post relaxer. A hair stylist did my sew in. She braided my hair too tight. I have traction alopecia. I will not put a chemical on my scalp because my follicles are damaged and I have bald spots on both sides of my hair. I have to wait months for my scalp to heal and for my hair to go back. I want to cut the relax out to start all over. My hair is only 10 inches. It’s not a big deal. I had natural hair before.

You’re welcome and sorry to hear about your experience. Cut your relaxed hair when you’re ready, because you can still transition either way. But I hope it’s all going ok.

Great video. Transitioning has to one of the most challenging things I've ever done. Now 8 months post relaxer and pro poos have been a life saver to stop matting and tangles

Hey what do you use on your edges? Our texture is very similar and your edges seem to be fairly sleek in this video.

+joygabby64 Hey, I applied some gel (can't remember which one) and tied the front down with my headscarf for 10 mins. It really helps to keep it slick.

When is the best time to do the big chop? I’m 9 months post relaxer and I’m unsure of the best time to do it
@HealthyAfroHair6 жыл бұрын
Whenever you feel ready. For me, I wanted to transition long enough to grow out my hair to a length I felt I’d be happy with, but if length isn’t an issue for you, then do it anytime.
@nourak11497 жыл бұрын
hey, I'm 14 and I've been transitioning for 5 months. my hair is always in braids but I've been letting it out for the past 3 months. when I first took it out i used to be able to hold it up in a ponytail or pigtails but ever since the last month I can't seem to hold it up and my relaxed ends aren't as visible anymore. I know my hair has broken off because the relaxed ends are severely damaged but I'm not sure if it's cause my hair is too thick to hold up or if it's just that my hair has broken off.
@HealthyAfroHair7 жыл бұрын
+Nora K It sounds like a combination of both breakage and growth over the last few months that's making it difficult to put into a ponytail. But don't worry about it too much. Maybe consider trimming the ends to bring it back to health and if need be, get another protective style to help you along. But you're doing great 👍🏾

that was supposed to say are you losing your relaxed haired subscribers and hopefully gaining some natural hair subscribers
@mislill107 жыл бұрын
I am a relaxed hair person and I plan to never go natural I loved your videos when you were relaxed I just wanted to say that I won't be watching your natural videos because I'm not interested in natural hair but what I am curious to know is have you lost natural subscribers and are you gaining more natural subscribers and I want to say congratulations in your natural journey and good luck
@HealthyAfroHair7 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, I don't know how many relaxed or natural subscribers I've lost or gained, because it's not possible to know that information. But when I was relaxed, I discovered through comments, that I had natural people subscribed to my channel, so it's likely I could have relaxed people too. But to be honest, my main focus is to continue sharing hair tips throughout my hair journey and hope it helps others in some way. But thank you and best of luck on your hair journey too.
