Because it's sort of a mutual tacit non-verbal consent on the whole thing, basically like BDSM mechanics. I don’t use Twitter, but from my perspective I see a massive bias against females and leftists in the hate for Twitter and Tumblr (another social media site I don’t use). I don’t use the sites often, but I have made accounts and I do have an idea of who uses them mostly. Twitter seems like the most popular of the two and Tumblr seems popular with fandoms in general. I was introduced to it through readers and later anime/manga fanfiction fandoms. Everything I’ve seen with the hate seems to circle back to an aspect of having females and leftists in the community. I think Twitter and Tumblr just sticks out in a community that is majority male like the anime community.

The Jojo thing is SO weird to me. I first saw Jojo 8 years ago, part 1 was being advertised on Crunchyroll. I was actually even earlier than that - one of the people who got ruined on Part 5 because the translation back then sucks ass so much I still remember my bad impressions of it. Back then there was like a wiki page cataloging a bunch of JoJo references in other media and as a Touhou fan I found it cool that ZUN is a JoJo fan and read it and even watched the OVA because that was all we got back then. I tried to push it to my friends back then but they didn't care but it's them who are bigger JoJo fans than me where I'm just "Alright, I'll binge Part 4 to Part 6 when SBR is coming out." It is so surreal seeing people go from not caring about the series at all to seeing it as the hottest shit since Eva.

The sub/scan communities were particularly bad, with nary a week sans backstabbing. I used to run a fansite with another guy who then locked me out and also banned me from the forum; he wanted to be known as the one man behind the operation and he wasn't too keen on sharing power. This is a common thread across the fan forums: most of them are locked, abandoned, or straight up deleted when the original admins don't care to operate them anymore, because the idea of giving that power to someone else is crazy to them. Machinations and smack talking are omnipresent.

I was working in my graphic design class and decided to listen to this episode of Trash Taste at the same time, and the volume on the speaker was all the way up (only God knows why it was at max volume) But my Bluetooth didn't connect all the way.
