While we were doing a walking tour of the old town our tour guide told us as the place was built during era's, the rule of thumb there is that the width of the streets is a good guide to how old they are, with the very narrow streets the oldest.

when you Fika in a Swedish home, they always have a tray of 7 different kinds of cookies and the kanelbullar is so good.
@KristoferOlsson2 жыл бұрын
That is not true. This was only done at bigger events like birthdays etc. A random Fika could be only a coffe and 1 sandwish, cookie or kanelbulle. 7 cookies comes from that you didnt want to look poor but at the same time not bragging about having lots of money. So they decided that 7 different kinds of cookies was the "lagom" (perfect) number to serve.
@funkmachine90942 жыл бұрын
why not 8 different types of cookies?
@KristoferOlsson2 жыл бұрын
@@funkmachine9094 Then you would be bragging about being rich. Wich was a big no no in Sweden back in the days. 7 was the perfect number to be generous without bragging. This is all back in the days and more or less was gone by the 90s. People do it becasue of tradition but not because of the reason behind the tradition.

The usual ratio for saft:water is 1:3, 1:4 or 1:10 but unless you're making a bottle full most just fill up and taste and then fill more saft or water in to make it perfect.

Omg the ship museum I need to go there! I have never given this a second thought but of course the reason we don't have any giant 18th-19th century ships despite having had the second largest fleet in Europe, is of course that the British sank the whole thing.

Guys, the cherry "saft" reminds me that you guys need to visit the Frederiksdal Estate in south Denmark where they have successfully been producing and even exporting different cherry wines/juices since 2006. Could make for an interesting video.
@klausolekristiansen29602 жыл бұрын
In Danish, "saft" is just the generic word for juice. "Juice" has been imported from English, and is used for fruit juice meant for drinking. Concentrated juice that you add water to, as well as the finished mixture, is called "saftevand". Or maybe I am showing my age here.
@GarmrsBarking2 жыл бұрын
Maybe it's your age or it's a regional thing... For me it's always been that saft is the concentrate mix water thing and juice is the thing with pulp...

Saft = cordial in English. Fresh fruit boiled down with sugar to this concentrate. Dilute it with water and drink. Mostly for kids when the grown ups have coffee.
