Am I the only one getting sleepy while watching these videos? After we get over the initial slaughter, watching them carefully, and gracefully slice and cut away, with the patience and dedication to their craft, you can sense coming from them, puts me in a such lullaby.

It’s intriguing isn’t it? I really enjoy them! Seeing all kinds of sea life dissected and made into several different dishes. People eating it raw! After seeing it dissected I don’t think I could eat it raw!! And it’s so wild that this thing was still alive for so long after sooo many slices with the knife! Like what in the actual fuk? Does it move around in the persons mouth like that?!? Eek! But I love it!

The secret to long life in Okinawa is the fresh food that is available. The markets are everywhere and plenty of fresh food for preparation or prepared is readily available. Many Okinawan people work well into their latter years and it is considered honorable to be working up to the point of death. Once you acquire a taste for eating like this you really do not yearn for anything else. I used to enjoy the dried cuttlefish. It is like seafood beef jerky

I was lucky enough to try a single piece of cuttlefish sashimi back in 1998 (when I was 17). It was one of the most amazing pieces of sashimi I have ever tried. It had a texture unlike anything else and a slight saltiness without being fishy. I have been looking for a place that sells it EVER SINCE. Unfortunately without success. I'm 41 now and I don't know that I'll ever get to have it again.

To all the people complaining about the animal moving: It is merely just nerves acting out on the muscles after the brain is dead. Please find a better argument then just “How could they do this? It’s still moving!” Also, it is not animal abuse. It is part of the food chain, just like how the moose is part of the wolves’ diet.

1st time cooked this cuttlefish ,it took very2 long time to process. Cut here n there to separate all parts to cook with 4 different ways of cooking. Which is base on tomyam, curry, fried n side dishes like snack. That basically you need way patience that you could imagine..needs preparing from basic, not that from ready to cook ingredients. But,in end of it..it really satisfying

So if you chop a snakes head off and the body moves for awhile after its dead does that mean the snake is still alive? Or when a chickens has its head chopped off, and its body still jumps around and run then the chicken must still be alive?

They are dead. The fact that the body moves does not mean they still alive. If you put salt on a piece of cut frog leg and it moves, does that mean the leg is still alive? It's just muscle contractions. Especially after the head is severed it all goes haywire.

I think it would be way too chewy like that, the appeal of raw fish is how incredibly tender it is, and the fresh flavor of just the fish on its own. I can totally see why that doesnt appeal to some people, of course.

John Mager true but I can deal with chewy if it's well seasoned. Sashimi tastes like whatever I dip it in, even expensive fish has minimal flavor when raw, just my opinion, isn't it wonderful we have so many options to cook based upon tastes and personality

you two ever try cleaning something like this? i don't care how sharp your knife is, these suckers along with octopus and certain fish species produce a slime that allows them to specifically cram themselves into razor sharp rock crevices and such without being cut , not to mention, about a minute in he sharpens the knife , using a brick , but still...
