These are terrific tips. You may have mentioned this already but always throw in your crossbody/carryon one of those little packable nylon grocery bags that fold to the size of like a deck of cards, so if you have to suddenly gate check your carryon suitcase, you can quickly stuff that little nylon grocery bag with anything in your suitcase you don't want away from you in the belly of the beast (medications, spare set of clothes, etc).

I debated buying the seat/tray cover. It’s a fantastic idea. Last minute I bought a slim seat travel pouch. Throw some essentials in there. You can put it in the seat pocket. I had room to keep it next to me. Turned out it was good I had it. Way home I was next to a mom with 2 young young kids. I’m normally extremely helpful, but I wasn’t too keen on the situation. Few deceitful things. I kept quiet, but I couldn’t access my tray table bc the lap baby’s head was blocking it. (Head or feet were in my lap the entire time.). I could get to my essentials bc I had this slim pouch next to me. Just another idea.

Lori, love your videos. I wish I could justify the national park packing cubes, I have two sets already from Tripped. A couple of things that I have found useful when traveling, one is the Gravel travel blanket. I am a colder sleeper, this blanket is very warm and very light weight. It has pockets for your feet, a snap that you can snap up around your neck. It also has a zip pocket that is next to your body when your feet are in the pockets. The blanket can also be folded into the pocket for a pillow. When I slept on my flight to Scotland I placed my passport and wallet in the pocket so it is next to my body. Gravel is a small relatively new business. The two gentleman started the company because they couldn’t find a toiletries bag they liked. Medicines for travel, I ordered small pill bottles from Amazon, and asked my pharmacy to print off labels of my prescriptions. Then take only the number of doses for the trip plus two extra doses. The small bottles took up much less room than the one size my pharmacy uses.

I did use an airplane tray cover for my long flights to/from Japan, the little hooks work great, I used a small crossbody to hold cards and passport for convenience and suggest the forward sleeping blowup pillow instead of neck pillow because it's a more natural position so your back will not hurt. I did like the travel hanging bag you recommended and used the clear removable section for essentials in my crossbody.. I ended up rolling my clothing, the packing cubes made it too bulky and it was easier to fill in gaps with smaller items. I only brought one pair of shoes that I had to throw out and buy a pair of Hoka in Japan because you walk everywhere and a lot of stairs. Noise canceling headphones and sleep mask a must. Water bottle and snacks in personal item as well. Hand wipes to clean your plane area must bring. I used the eyeglass wipes not the peeps. Agree that you need face/hand lotion, eye drops and lip moisturizer. I did have to put my cross body in my carry on.

That tray cover with the POCKETS is my big must-have. I need my glasses, water, wipes, devices/cords/earbuds, maybe snacks, at hand, and the airplane seat pockets will not hold them. And you can’t really get into your bags easily. I don’t care about the tray cover itself, but the pockets are great.

I love that tray table cover to organize all my in-flight essentials, if I have a seat in front of me. But I often pay extra to get a bulkhead seat, which means no seat in front and just the tiny magazine rack stapled to the bulkhead. Also, everything has to go in the overhead compartment instead of the floor in front of me. In that case, I find that 3 zipped tablet case you were talking about a year or two ago to be ideal for my in flight comfort essentials and a thin paperback. I move the in flight magazines to the overhead bin to make room for it. Everything else, like snacks, can fit in the pockets of my 17 pocket travel vest. If flying in warm weather, instead of a T shirt, I pack 3 or 4 translucent gauzy tops that slip over top of the tank I wear as part of my in flight outfit. They fold down in no more space than a large silk scarf. That way, I get a lot of outfits in a very small space. BTW, those boxes of very tiny Lindt chocolate bars are perfect for in flight snacks 🙂 I would always wear something that allows me to put valuables in my pockets if I have to leave my seat - I never leave valuables unattended, however nice my seat mate might seem! I got that purse hook on your recommendation, btw, and have had so many positive comments from people. I use it mostly to keep my purse off the table during our church soup suppers/Bible studies, so it doesn't get someone's soup spilled on it. Those Vera Bradley purses are hard to clean! I definitely recommend carrying individually wrapped alcohol wipes for your tray table, arm rest, and head rest (people forget about the head rest, but trust me, some of the folks I've encountered on planes, you do NOT want to be resting your hair where they've had theirs for several hours! That can be a great way to catch head lice. Ick!) Individually wrapped ones are much easier to deal with than resealing packages while you and everyone else on the plane are trying to get settled, and a box will last you a long time. A tip to making the getting everything settled and sanitized process go more quickly is to tuck a doggie waste bag into the cuff of your sleeve prior to boarding, then it is handy to whip out to put in your used wipe, and to gather up any other waste during the flight.

Hi Laurie. Thanks for all your travel hack videos. Most of our flights on Allegiant we sit at the very front in the Extra Leg Room seats. They don't have a seat in front where I could house my items. How would you work around that?
@TravelTipsbyLaurie10 ай бұрын
I would definitely have a pouch or even your crossbody bag that can stick in the little pocket or squeeze between your leg and the arm rest. But you can get up and retrieve your backpack as soon as the seatbelt sign goes off.

Like the window cup holder but I always book an aisle seat.

I love your tips and recommendations. I’m going to buy the tray table covers for two of my cousins that fly frequently. I’m surprised you don’t put any kind of protection over your backpack when it’s under the seat. You know how gross those carpets are. Blech.

What kind of protection would you recommend? I think it’s gross too.

I love your suggestions but the tray table cover does not work on all airplanes. I traveled on Southwest, Alaska and Hawaiian and they did not fit. I was bummed. I'll be on United soon so hopefully it will fit on that one.

Hi… this remind me that the last time I followed your ways of packing extra set of clothes in my personal bag… and the airport delay my luggage…. I was safe but my husband wasn’t ..since he didn’t want to carry extra bags…. But yes.. thanks for the tips and advice on packing and packing and all that you do… I even have the same backpacks that you have share… the one with the light grey and pink combo.. I have a darker shade of that too… so hard not wanting to use it.. lol I was so indecisive when I bring the backpack or a tote… 😅

Hi Laurie! I love & rely on your travel tips! I had a thought about the phone stand. I bought a case for my new I-15 that has a flush folding built-in ring stand on the back that holds the phone vertically or horizontally. This wouldn’t help for Ipad, but if just using phone in-flight it makes one less item!😊

Hi Laurie. Heard you mention some health problems a few times. Consider going keto. I’ve eliminated all my skin conditions and all my bloodwork is perfect. The sugars, grains, and carbs are causing inflammation.

Not to take away freedom m Laurie, she’s great, but I watched another travel video the other day and she recommended putting your items through in the order you want to receive them the other end. In her case it was personal item/backpack, then her electronics, then her closed carryon. At the other end she grabs the personal item, opens, and grabs the electronics and places in the bag, by then she’ll be ready to grab her carryon and move out of the security area.
@TravelTipsbyLaurie10 ай бұрын

Excellent information today (as always). I'll be using many of the ideas for the upcoming long haul flight (LAX to LHR - Heathrow). Thank you for the information on what to wear and sleep for the all-nighter flight.
